Re: subtitle gibberish

Thanks Woodstock, in ghb selecting closed caption does not work but what I need is to select it from the commandline 98% of the time the -s 1 switch gets me switchable subtitles and those activity logs all show closed-captioning (usually CC608 but sometimes iso639) and passthru In every case in the ...

Re: handbrake 1.0.0.0/x265 2.1 not as fast, does not compress as much as handbrake 0.10.5.0/x265 1.9

I get all that, I was only trying to help out the original poster with how to get back to pre 1.0 compression sizes without building custom presets. Yes, it's always a trial and error thing but that's VERY time consuming. For those of us who can't drop everything and start digging thru logs to disco...

Re: handbrake 1.0.0.0/x265 2.1 not as fast, does not compress as much as handbrake 0.10.5.0/x265 1.9

I use HandBrakeCLI almost daily and trial and error has shown the following on 1920x1080 mpeg2.ts files -q 26 under v1.01 is roughly equivalent in fps and filesize to the default -q 22 in v0.94 (even on 55" screen viewed close-up). I use -q 22 for content with lots of pans or action, -q 30 for ...

Re: --start-at times > 23860 run at zero

Want to stay Linux - even if it means using ProjectX to cut out files with start times > 6:37:40 re-ran on two different source files with no errors in log file - adding one to this post - note line 177 showing zero start time and if it helps the actual transcode does start at 00:00:00 instead of 06...

Re: --start-at times > 23860 run at zero

apologies to mduell and Woodstock - i did rtfm and there's no valid excuse for my ignorance in thinking it would be self explanatory. To Woodstocks' question - yes the source is about 480 minutes. This happens when transcoding marathons captured from cable and will also come into play on a new cord-...
