I tried to embed a screenshot but it's not showing up I just pasted the image link if anyone wants to see the screenshot...

Re: Wrong output length reported with Nightly Build CLI

I wasn't. When you have something constructive to add please do so otherwise keep your offensive inner monologue to yourself. Some of us are here to learn, not be belittled and talked down to and I think I've bent over backwards at everyone's requests for specific logs and examples so I'm not quite...

Re: Wrong output length reported with Nightly Build CLI

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. :?: If you are referring to the compiling thing, in several decades on the internet and dealing with PC's I have never had a need to do that, not once, and I do not intend to learn how now because of the way the Handbrake developers deal w...

Re: Wrong output length reported with Nightly Build CLI

Why don't you start with before/after encoding logs, and the logs from your BR authoring sw. Also screenshots of what differences you think you're seeing would be helpful. You can compile from the git repo to reproduce any build you'd like. It works fine in the br authoring software. The only place...

Re: Is there a lossless setting for merging 4GB Sony AVC chunks?

I meant the default encoding that hb uses. I get confused sometimes with all these variations. Sorry about that. But yeah, I've had several containers get messed up that I thought I was good to go with and it ended up setting me back days to fix. For example this grayscale disc I've been working on ...

Re: Wrong output length reported with Nightly Build CLI

I wonder if something else was accidentally changed when this happened? I am using the exact same CL's as I have always been, but now since this fix for the length error I have to use a different viewing mode on my TV to raise the height to normal during playback. My TV has 3 picture size modes. Ori...

Re: Is there a lossless setting for merging 4GB Sony AVC chunks?

The differences beetween encoding and muxing are simply not known to most people, but i think we have been here before, recently. MUXING creates a precise, exact bit-for-bit copy of the original. Perceived differences are physically impossible. There are exceptions to that that I have run in to. Th...

Re: Is there a lossless setting for merging 4GB Sony AVC chunks?

Wow! I had never heard of AviDemux. If I could somehow lump Handbrake's 264 capabilities with it I would be an extremely happy camper. I messed with it for hours this week and cannot get it to produce anywhere near as good a file as Handbrake does. Not saying it can't, just that I can't figure it ou...

Wrong output length reported with Nightly Build CLI

When using the CLI Nightly Build I am getting erroneous video lengths reported on every video I have been converting recently when viewing it in VLC Player and Windows Media Player. It is also showing the wrong time when I click on the file properties in Windows and look at 'Details'. The example in...

HB creates a log file even if you can't find a video to select? That's impressive.

Re: Converting MOV to MP4

How can there be a log when HB can't even open the file? :?

Try dragging the file in to HB or move the file to a difference location. Make a folder under C:\ and put it there or save it to your desktop.

Re: How does HB determine original video dimensions?

That height and width doesn't seem right, even with padding at least one of them should be full frame dimension? I like to shrink DVD rips just a bit, I don't mind the small black border. Well, technically I'm enlarging them from the original size, but not to the maximum. It makes them appear a lit...

Re: Mpeg Vs. 264 conversion question.

Can you share your solution? Cause you stumped me  It's as musicvid explained. After a ton of searching on this I came up with what he said. The only thing I ran in to was I had to set HB manually to 23.976 in the GUI version while I was doing my setting tests. If I chose 'Same As Source' ...

Re: Is there a lossless setting for merging 4GB Sony AVC chunks?

I'm not a Tmpgenc fanboi by no means. It's use of h.264 is really bad and it lacks a lot of authoring options but for the price, it's really hard to beat. I've had it for a few months now and I've authored over 30 movies all with edits, subtitles, and multiple audio tracks using custom graphics and ...

Re: How does HB determine original video dimensions?

Thanks Rodeo. I didn't know about the non-square pixel thing. I use the CLI version of HB and set a 16:9 pad and upscale the original dimensions using this CL for Bluray Compliance . . . handbrakecli -i original.mkv -o output.mkv --pad width=1920:height=1080 --custom-anamorphic --width 1773 --height...

How does HB determine original video dimensions?

I've noticed that when I'm working with DVD rips and try to change the pixel size and set a pad using the CLI version of HB that I have to first throw the original file in the GUI version of HB to get the correct dimensions as a base to adjust from. If I scan the original with anything else such as ...

Re: Is there a lossless setting for merging 4GB Sony AVC chunks?

Pegasys Inc. has a Lossless MPEG editor called TMPGEnc MPEG Smart Renderer 5 that will do exactly what you want and only take a few minutes to do it because it doesn't re-render all the files. It only renders the few frames where the clips are put together and leaves the rest untouched. You can use ...

Re: Mpeg Vs. 264 conversion question.

[15:48:17] + frame rate: 23.976 fps -> constant 29.970 fps Is this necessary? I thought BD could do 23.976 progressive video. The problem with this video is it shows two different fps. It's the only DVD I own that shows up this way. I figured it would be better to deinterlace it to a higher fps sin...

Re: Mpeg Vs. 264 conversion question.

I've been ripping some DVD's I own that aren't available on Bluray and transferring them them to Bluray. I can simply drag the .vob's to my authoring software and call it a day, but I like to increase their native w x h and add a 16:9 padding using HB's CLI. That way the size appears a bit smaller a...

Mpeg Vs. 264 conversion question.

I recently purchased Video Mastering Works 6 by TMPGenc. I bought it for it's timeline editing functionality but it also easily exports Bluray Compliant Mpeg-2 and 264/AVC files. It seems that when I do any editing be it basic sharpening, color correction, or anything, the output is always better wh...

Re: non techie has no idea what she's doing right.

MakeMKV doesn't compress at all . It's just a raw dump from the media to .MKV so the file sizes are huge. It is a great program. I have two programs I bought to do what MakeMKV does before I discovered it and now I only use MakeMKV. I've noticed that if it's a newer film captured completely on digi...

Re: BD/AVCHD Compliant h264 Output / Presets

Well, be prepare to be amazed then. NTSC (Region A) Blu Ray players are locked to only play back certain frame rates, 25fps is not one of them. If you want to take a 25fps video and burn it to an authored blu ray and play it in a Region A (NTSC) player, you must convert it to 23.97, 24, or 29.97 fp...

Re: BD/AVCHD Compliant h264 Output / Presets

Updated 9-18-16 This CL is for the CLI version of HB only. This example allows you to upscale source files (for example oddball small files from youtube), set your custom size in a 16:9 pad, and make the output file Bluray Compliant. See bottom of this post for Bluray Compliant settings in the GUI ...
