Re: 1.5.1 has not fixed the issue

When looking at the thread here for .NET downloads, and the picture included.. you'll see the server side files say: "includes the .Net runtime AND Core runtime files..." which is what confused me, as I have ASP.NET 5 and 6 installed. Still failed. So yes... if you have those, or any.. sim...

Re: Updated HB won't run with updated .NET

Well.. just to chime in and add my vote. With 1.4.2, all I had installed were ASP.NET Core 5 and 6, shared framework. Installed this one, states it needs .Net 6.0.1. Okay.. downloaded it. This one being .Net Runtime 6.0.1. Still didn't work. Now states "needs .Net support files"... but doe...

Re: Smaller files for a tablet.

"Making "raw" MKV files on a machine that DOES have an optical disk, using tools like MakeMKV, can be a solution." True. I have that all set up on my older HTPC running an FX8350. It's my Ryzen 7 machine I don't have an optical drive. Getting time on the HTPC on the other hand is...

Re: Smaller files for a tablet.

It is more convenient as far as setup goes.. my new system doesn't include the use of an internal optical drive, and having to plug/unplug I have to use is annoying at best. I appreciate the reply. Question still remains though, if I encoded the first rip, say using x265 10bit @1080p... do I use the...

Smaller files for a tablet.

Description of problem or question: Okay. I have a collection of videos that were ripped to MP4 from DVD. Most of those can be stored on this tablet without taking up too much room. However, I have a few Bluray rips that are sizeable. When re-encoding to a smaller size frame width, say 1080 to 480,...

Re: Musical notation.. .song lyrics

Final testing results. I managed to get the .SRT files to work completely within the .MP4 container. However, it wasn't Handbrake I used.. it was another free encoder. I rarely do subs for music videos, but more for TV shows. Most of which will have a theme song. So.. at least now in my [Censored] o...

Re: Musical notation.. .song lyrics

Okay... I tried the three types of subs that HB allows in the selection list. .ASS, .SSA and of course .SRT. None of which show up if soft coded. So.. for now, my workaround will just be either hard coding music videos with the subs.. or just leave the subs in the same folder as the videos and allow...

Re: Musical notation.. .song lyrics

Confirmed. If I choose the option to hard code (burn in) the subtitles, than SRT works.. and shows the subs as created in the MP4 container. Now.. to figure out what format subs need to be for HB to soft code them and work. Shouldn't take too long, there's only a thousand or so to sort thru. :) Than...

Re: Musical notation.. .song lyrics

I have yet to try a different subtitle format other than SRT. I guess I could try another.. so long as the text file is UTF, and not ANSI.. as the latter doesn't support musical notes at all. It shows those as asterisks or pound signs. I can also try a hard coded subtitle burn as you suggested. All ...

Taken from this forum post: https://forum.handbrake.fr/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=39616&p=187309&hilit=music+notes#p187309 JohnAStebbins asked: "Does the same problem exist if you output to mkv instead of mp4?" The answer is no. I tested three video files.. each to mp4, and mkv using...

Re: Musical notation.. .song lyrics

Oh.. .not sure if this information matters. If a subtitle is created and named the same as the video and placed in the folder with the video, regardless of song lyrics having one or two notations, VLC will read them without issue. It's only when you go to soft/hard encode them to the movie/video tha...

Re: Musical notation.. .song lyrics

P.S.
I read a few other forum threads here, and the link to the Github convo on the subject... seems no solution has been posted.

So.. just curious to see if one is there, or can be achieved. :)

Audio issues, MKV to MP4 "Tunneling" effect

Please describe the problem in as much detail as possible: When converting an MKV file, to MP4.. in 1.0.1, I get serious audio "tunnel" sound effects, particularly from LF, RF, RR and RL speakers. The center speaker will drown out during this time. This happens most often during loud soun...

Re: HandBrake 1.0.0 Discussion Thread

That is most definatly not 1.0.0. That's still 0.10.5 so you must have another copy installed and your shortcut is pointing to the wrong place. Uninstall, verify there is no copies in program files, then install fresh. and... that's exactly what I had to do. After uninstalling 1, I downloaded 0.10,...

Re: HandBrake 1.0.0 Discussion Thread

I've confirmed it twice... The installer mentions that you have an earlier version, and to uninstall it.. so that's what I did. Checked the About page to make sure it was 1.0.0. Wasn't. Uninstalled via Programs/Features, restarted... deleted the program I downloaded, re-downloaded and installed. Her...

I know this has nothing to do with functionality, but the About page for 1.0.0, is still 0.10.5.

Re: File renaming...

Oh.. and please note.

Since I use multiple hard drives for all my processing needs.. I will put the source files on one drive, and then encode and save to another drive. Not the same drive, and a different folder, mind you.. but an actual different, physical drive.
