Re: Getting foreign-only subtitles to burn-in
I'm having the same issue as the OP, while trying to convert a movie that I ripped from DVD using MakeMKV to an .mkv movie has built-in subtitles, but when I convert using HandBrake, the built-in subtitles disappear. I've attempted Foreign Audio Search (burned in & forced), as well as adding bot...

Determine correct Track to Rip
Description of problem or question: I'm a long time MakeMKV & Handbrake user, and I'm great at using both of them when it comes to really easy, basic rips. However, if MakeMKV shows multiple tracks, as in the instance of Incredibles 2 that I just bought for my daughter, how do I determine the c...

I have it already, but I can't remember if it removes encryption. By the way, their website is down.

2015 Best/Favorite Mac DVD Ripper
Mac Users, What's the "best" or "favorite" ripper out there? I've been using MacTheRipper for years, but stopped about a year ago. Since then, I've been in the market for a new ripper, what are you all using, and why? There are so many out there on the market, it's hard to know w...

Movie won't play & Help with Subtitles
Hi there, I have two issues that I'm trying to deal with, and can certainly use the communities expert help. 1) After I've converted this particular movie, it will not play in the Finder (when I do a QuickView by pressing the Spacebar or clicking the Play button), or when I load it into iTunes 11.1....

Foreign audio - Mother of George
Hi there, I'm trying to rip a movie titled "Mother of George" which has some foreign audio. I have no problem actually archiving the DVD, but no matter which setting I choose, I never get the foreign audio passages. Under Sub-titles, I've tried using "Foreign Audio Search" with F...

Re: Star Trek Into Darkness
Like everyone else, I had the same issues but I was able to backup Star Trek Into Darkness by doing the following: • Opening the DVD in DVD Player and determining which title to rip - #60 • Using the free application MakeMKV (http://www.makemkv.com - Mac/PC/Linux versions) to convert title #60 to an...

4 - English (Bitmap) (VOBSUB) Outstanding! It worked like a charm! How did you know that choosing that item with Burned In - On, would result in what I wanted? I'd prefer to not have to post here, every time I rip one of my English/foreign movies. :) What should I be looking for, to know which item...

5%, 17.375% ... it's all about the same. I tried using the TedJ's suggestion with 3rd subtitle track (Director's Commentary) with "Forced Only" - off and "Burned In" - on, but all that got me was 100% of the director's commentary and not the subtitles, which is not what I...

Re: No Subtitles - Foreign Audio Search
I still continue to have the same issues with subtitles, that I mentioned previously, and this is with another movie that is 95% English and 5% Spanish. I've tried all of the options and combinations, that I can, and still don't get the subtitles when Spanish is being spoken. This includes - Foreign...

Hi, Tonight I'm ripping a movie which has English as the primary language, with smatterings of French here and there. When I preview the movie in DVD Player, when the French is spoken there are subtitles. When I rip the movie using Foreign Audio Search with Forced Only checked, I get nothing. Checki...

I love foreign movies, and like putting them on my AppleTV so that I can watch them on a lazy Sunday morning. However, I constantly run into issues when trying to rip them, and could certainly use some help. Can someone offer some general "how-to's" and or best practices? Last night I trie...

Re: Missing Subtitles ...
It would appear that your source DVD is a 4:3 letterbox transfer with the subtitles burnt into the matting (black bars). You'll need to transcode with cropping manually set to zero. Got it, thanks! However, I'm not sure where to go in HB to change the cropping. Can you point me in the right directi...

Re: Missing Subtitles ...
Provide an encode log you must. An option it is not. Strange ... I posted the logs a bit ago, but they disappeared! Anyway, here the are again: After having the issues, I converted the DVD to File Sets using DVD2OneX2, as Handbrake encodes faster from the hard drive than the DVD. The File Sets when...

Greetings, I have a movie ("Ran") which has just 1 title, and is in Japanese. When I watch the DVD, it automatically includes the subtitles. When I use Handbrake to convert the movie for AppleTV, there are no subs. In the Subtitles menu, it lists "none". If I change it to "F...

Hi there, I used Handbrake pretty regularly, but am certainly no expert with it. Today I'm encountering an issue that I've never seen with it, that being when I point HB at a DVD by using either Open or Open Title, I get "No Valid Source Found". I receive this message using libdvdread or l...

Re: New HB with 1st Gen Apple TV Issue
Since we're talking about HB & VLC used in combo, how well does this combo work with Foreign films? My normal process has me go into HB and set the subtitle, as HB generally misses them on the scan. Are they handled any differently using the HB & VLC combination, or were there updates to .9....

Re: New HB with 1st Gen Apple TV Issue
I use RipIt primarily, because it's very easy to use, and seems to work well, most of the time. I also have several versions of MTR, including 4.x which I use when RipIt fails. I'll then send the rips through DTOX to export the Movie Only, before sending it off to Handbrake. Quite the process ... bu...
