Re: SRT subtitles are converted to ASS loosing their meta data in the process

You are right, so let me clarify what I was referring to. I was solely talking about the metadata of the MKV container. To be more specific, the following container metadata of my MKV files had been altered everytime I was re-encoding a movie with Handbrake: forced flag of the subtitle was lost defa...

That answers my question, thank you.

SRT subtitles are converted to ASS loosing their meta data in the process

I'm re-encoding some of my movies which have an excessively high bitrate. All of them are MKV containers, most having subtitles which are always SRT with some meta data (forced, default etc.). I noticed that they are always converted to ASS by Handbrake. They also loose all the meta data in the proc...

Re: How to get the right output display size in 1.0.1?

Thanks for your replies, guys. Looks like there was a change in how Handbrake is displaying the video size, thus confusing me a bit. Before 1.0.1 Handbrake showed the resulting size before applying cropping values, now it shows it after applying them (I'm referring to the two input fields above the ...

How to get the right output display size in 1.0.1?

Please detail your question or problem in as much detail as possible: I just installed 1.0.1 and now have problems to get the same display output size as the source has. Here is an example: Source: Format : AVC Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec Format profile : High@L4.1 Format settings, CABAC : Y...

Re: Forced Subtitles: What Is Your Personal Process?

For me, though, it's just as simple to view a short segment of video in VLC, toggling through the tracks. That's what I have been doing all these years with my BD's. But since I'm mostly doing single BD movies for my collection, I find it a very annoying and error-prone process. For instance it's v...

Re: Forced Subtitles: What Is Your Personal Process?

Ah ok, I see. I was still hoping there is a way to automatically detect forced subtitles for a track / a language. Finding forced subtitles and other correct subtitles for selected tracks is the most annoying part of encoding. On a pure logical level I still can't understand why there is no tool whi...

Re: Forced Subtitles: What Is Your Personal Process?

I have the very same issue: how to detect forced subtitles in the original bluray for the language(s) I want to keep. Woodstock, you are saying that you are using MKVmerge and VLC to find them. Could you please elaborate a bit more on how you are doing this exactly? I also use MKVmerge, but I dont s...

Re: HandBrake 0.10.0 Discussion Thread

Any idea what happened to the native language option, which pre-selected audio and subtitle languages? I can't find it anymore. Is there another way to achieve this now?
