New Computer, Encoding Speed... Questions
I just built a new system. Asus X99 Rampage Motherboard, 64gb DDR4 3000mhz Ram, Intel 5960x Haswell 8 core 3ghz CPU, Samsung PCIeX4 512gb M.2 SSD drive (1000mBit read/write). I set the system up with 32gb RAMdisk and set Windows 8.1 TEMP/TMP folder to it. Its a Dynamic Ramdisk so adjusts size as nee...

Re: Advice for buying a "rendering machine"
After reading all of this, I am still confused.
I am using a X99 motherboard with 64gb of DDR4 RAM and a intel 5960 (8 core) CPU 3ghz.
So is handbrake making use of all 8 cores? Is it taking advantage of my 64gb of Ram?

Re: DXVA Hardware Acceleration with Handbrake : Are you getting good results ?
I am using an intel 5960 8core cpu and a Nvidia K2000 Video CArd.... The speed that I get when I turn on DXVA is really quite good. The Quality that comes out I am impressed with. I am quality conscious and don't really care about file size anymore. Just give me the best picture and sound quality po...

Breaking movie up into multiple files?
Is it possible to break a movie up into multiple file sizes? I ask this because transfering movies easily over the internet sometimes can have file size limitations. Some cloud services have maximum file size limits that can be uploaded. Even though you may have enough space. One example is Microsof...

Re: I need what I think is basic help with handbrake
Something worth keeping in mind. Starting with very high quality HD source (not DVD), temporal quality is often improved just by virtue of lossy encoding, because it smooths the grain and noise somewhat, lessening a more-or-less subliminal annoyance. When shadows and transitional program material s...

Re: I need what I think is basic help with handbrake
Use MakeMkv to rewrap your movies to MKV. then you can enjoy them in their full standard def glory. I do that with my Blu-ray HI-def movies. However, only one of my TV systems support MKV. The other TV sadly only supports MP4. Period. :( I am not ready to replay the TV or add additional equipment t...

Re: I need what I think is basic help with handbrake
Thank you for your reply. That sounds logical. I tried a quality setting of 5 on that file and did pass through on the ac3 5.1 audio. The audio sounded fantastic, (I assume because no transcoding or conversion took place) and the video was as good as the MPG. Yet file size was almost 10gb. Which isn...

Re: Hard and Soft Subtitles Guide
I have found a much much easier way to HARDCODE subtitles. None of my home entertainment equipment allow for soft subtitles to be used without causeing great hassle and time consuming work on my part. Since I always have subtitles/closed captioning turned on. Hardcoding isn't an issue for me. This i...
