Re: 27ms Delay Relative to Video when Converting to AC3

OK, you guys know more than I do so I'm ok with that. :)
It just seemed weird that it was the exact same delay for every file I do, regardless of whether it was anime, feature film, documentary etc.
But it's all good. :)

Re: 27ms Delay Relative to Video when Converting to AC3

OK. So even the delay value only appears after I encode it with handbrake it was always there?
And does that mean when I edit the header info for the various tracks I'm actually putting things out of sync because it seems to remove that delay value from the metadata?

Re: 27ms Delay Relative to Video when Converting to AC3

Even if it shows nothing for that value when I run mediainfo against the rip I made of my BD?

27ms Delay Relative to Video when Converting to AC3

Not sure whether this is actually an issue or not but whenever I convert any audio stream to ac3 during encoding it always adds a 'delay relative to video' value of 27ms when viewing properties in mediainfo. I know Mediainfo isn't an exact science by any means, but it can't be coincidence it does it...

Re: Weird Blocking/Distotion when encoding VC1 from BBC Blu-Ray

OK, sorry to bump my own thread but I've worked out a sort of workaround which I think works great. Basically I use XMedia Recode to encode the video from VC1 to AVC/H264 whilst setting the video to stay interlaced tff, I also set the CRF at 0 to ensure there isn't any quality loss. The resultant vi...

Re: Possible to convert 6.1 DTS ES to Dolby Digital EX?

OK, thanks again. One more 'sort of unrelated but not worth starting a new thread over' question, how exactly is handbrake meant to handle 5.0 soundtracks? I havea Blu-ray with a DTS 5.0 soundtrack which handbrake automatically upmixes to 5.1 when converting to AC3 regardless of whether I tell it to...

Re: Possible to convert 6.1 DTS ES to Dolby Digital EX?

Ok, if 5.1 is the best that can be done that's ok. :)
Once question though, when downmixing the DTS 6.1 ES to DD 5.1 is handbrake just adding the audio from the rear center ES channel to both the left and right rear surrounds? I just want to make sure I'm not actually 'losing' any audio here...

Possible to convert 6.1 DTS ES to Dolby Digital EX?

As the topic states is this possible?
When I choose no downmix it automatically goes to 5.1, when I specify 6.1 downmix it automatically goes to 5.1... :P
Is there any way of avoiding the downmix and keep the '6.1' channel info for DD?

Re: Deinterlacing BBC Doco's from 1080i

[22:07:38] render: 498 frames output, 0 dropped and 54 duped for CFR/PFR Don't force a constant framerate, it's having to dupe frames. Just pick 50 as the peak framerate. Thanks for the reply, but I'm fine with it duplicating some frames. When I use a variable/peak framerate XBMC/KODI has issues ke...

Re: Deinterlacing BBC Doco's from 1080i

Sort of a necrobump in regards to this. If I choose bob as the deinterlace/decomb method and set the output to constant 50fps there seems to be an issue where each frame is jumping backwards and forwards like the wrong field is being deinterlaced first. Only happens to VC-1 interlaced. AVC works fin...

Re: Recommended tune for grainy animation?

Yeah I'm finding that out quickly... :P I tried setting the x264 preset to 'Very Slow' and it saved me a couple of hundred MB. When using the grain preset is it safe to set the CRF value higher than recommended(23 I think for HD is recommded, so 24+) since the grain tune is designed to keep more det...

Re: Recommended tune for grainy animation?

Do you want to preserve the grain or obliterate it? I'm a fan of preserving the original look of the video as much as possible so I guess I should leave it on grain. Just not at the cost of extreme filesize. Lets just say when I had the tune set to grain with a crf of 20, the filesize for a 22 minu...

Recommended tune for grainy animation?

If I have some anime from a couple of years ago with digital grain added post process should I use the animation tune or the grain tune? I suspect I should use grain but I just though someone with more experience might be able to tell me.

Using Bob with custom decomb filter

Hi, I've got some really weird anime BD's which seem like they're hard telecined VC-1 but when I pass them through with the default telecine filter to 23.976fps I get inconsistent results in that some parts of the encode play fine, but others play really jerky like it's decimating incorrect frames o...

Does cropping anamorphic DVDs mess up the aspect ratio?

I'm a bit pedantic and paranoid when it comes to stuff like this(which is a real pain in the ass... :P ). Anyway, so I'm encoding all of my anime DVD's onto my NAS for ease of access, but as I'm from Australia I've run into the issue of having to deal with DVD's authored by Madman. Where instead of ...

Subtitle track containing everything *except* forced?

Hi, When encoding movies I've found I want to burn in the forced subtitles for parts of a blu-ray with foreign languages etc. However I can't on most occasions as if I then turn on the regular subtitles it displays both at the same time, and they often don't match up on the screen properly and obscu...

Re: Weird Blocking/Distotion when encoding VC1 from BBC Blu-

I don't expect any bugfixes for the next release, no. I do hope libav devs will fix it eventually though. I might look into it myself at some point, but I'm no VC-1 expert by any means. While we do have some samples, one more isn't going to hurt. Could you maybe split a 20-second clip that includes...
