PS3 for Converting?
So my friend was asking me about DVD to MPEG-4 converters and I let him know I use Handbrake for Mac. My friend doesn't have a Mac but has a PS3 running Yellow Dog and another harddrive running Ubuntu. I see there is a version of Handbrake for Linux, and I was curious if anyone has tried using the s...

Re: PS3 encoding with surround ?
I JUST noticed that the latest Snapshot version allows for AC3 Passthru and it works with the PS3. Awesome!
Keep up the great work Hanbrake Developer Guys!

Re: PS3 encoding with surround ?
Well... I just tried every setting that allowed AC-3 Passthru (except for Format:MKV, Codecs:MPEG-4 / AC-3 Audio, Encoder: XviD... every time I tried that the program crashed). Anywhot, none of them would play on the PS3. Kept getting different error codes. Sucksaroonie!

Re: PS3 encoding with surround ?
Hiyo Hiyo... Found this topic so I was curious. Is HDMI with AAC the only way to preserve the 5.1 surround sound? I would love to use the AC3-Passthru feature but I'm not sure if that will work on the PS3.

Re: PS3 Encoding {Firmware 2.10}
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh... See I was not aware of that. All my genius friends here didn't know that either and said my Receiver was just a bad one. But they just don't know any better. Blehhhhhhhh to them.

Re: PS3 Encoding {Firmware 2.10}
Yeah the problem I have encoding with 5.1 aac is that my Sony Audio Receiver is not able to translate that correctly. Basically my PS3 has an optical cable going to my Receiver, and when a 5.1 movie is played, it only comes out as 2.0 stereo. And when I go to the PS3 options it doesn't allow me to s...

PS3 Encoding {Firmware 2.10}
I'm very confused on what to encode a movie at for streaming to my PS3. I'm trying to keep the ac3 5.1 (using passthru) but have been unable to get it to work with any of the formats. I've tried: AVI (MPEG-4 / AC-3 Audio) AVI (AVC/ H.264 AC-3 Audio) MP4 MKV I've tried pretty much all the settings. I...

So the XBOX 360 can't handle 5.1 Pass Through MP4 files? I would like to keep 5.1 audio on my movies if possible when streaming to my XBOX. But I noticed it won't work unless I downsample to some stereo format. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. the x360 doesnt support 5.1 in h.264, only...
