Re: Questions about hardware encoding / QuickSync / UHD770
The 12900KF (KF) has no graphics. So no QuickSync. QSV > NVEnc a lot of the time. Typically not faster though. s55, thanks for the short but clear reply. I'm surprised that QSV is better than NVENC. I read a lot of people say that NVENC Turing was the best hardware encoder, but I have more trust in...

Questions about hardware encoding / QuickSync / UHD770
Hello this is not a bug report, just general questions : I have a i9-12900KF (Alder Lake) : - What's the difference between UHD770 and Quick Sync ? - Can I use Quick Sync hardware h265 encoding/decoding on Handbrake through my i9 although it lacks GPU ? (I have a graphic card) - What's the best h265...

Re: Looking for a Low Consumption but fast CPU
Sure, or even the 13700T won't be much different, but is 40% cheaper. Thanks for this great advice ! I knew I could count on you guys to recommend me a good CPU  Energy is getting very expensive here in France so when I buy something that will be switched on 24/7, power consumption is a very ...

Looking for a Low Consumption but fast CPU
Hello, please recommend me a low consumption but fast CPU to use with Handbrake x265 1080p Encoding.
I don't care whether it's AMD or Intel and I don't care about the price. You can also recommend a compatible Motherboard.
THANK YOU.
Hanbrakeur.

Re: [NVEnc Encoding] Strange quality slider
Hi dr0, if I understand s55 (correct me if I'm wrong), he meant that HQ is identical to Slow and HP identical Fast, so the actual quality Slider is more or less this :
- Fast = High Performance
- Medium
- Slow = High Quality
- Fast = High Performance
- Medium
- Slow = High Quality

[NVEnc Encoding] Strange quality slider
Hello everybody, Unlike the x264/x265 codecs that have an Encoder Preset Slider that goes from UltraFast to Placebo, the "H264 (NVIDIA NVenc)" slider is in this order : - High Quality - High Performance - Fast - Medium - Slow - Default Does "High Quality" equal "Slowest"...

Suggestion : Handbrake app to follow the progress of our encodings
Hello,
How about a Handbrake app to follow the progress of our encodings from whereever we are ? It could also allow us to stop an encoding remotely.
Thanks.
Cédric.

Constant framerate setting doesn't work at 59.94fps
Hello, when setting framerate to 59.94 in constant framerate, mp4/m4v, it results in variable framerate. The problem was reported here https://github.com/HandBrake/HandBrake/issues/3183 but the bug has been marked as duplicate and no solution was provided. Does anyone know a workaround ? This proble...

Re: Is there room for Handbrake to speed up x265 encoding ?
I guess it's a difference of philosophy. Some people like to target a specific quality no matter the space it takes on the hard drive, I prefer to know exactly the space it will take because hd space is not infinite

Re: Is there room for Handbrake to speed up x265 encoding ?
I know that harddrives are cheap nowadays but the smaller the better, especially when you deal with hundreds of videos. With fixed bitrate I know exactly the filesize for a given bitrate. You are right to say that I have no guaranty on the video quality because it depends on the kind of contents, th...

Re: Is there room for Handbrake to speed up x265 encoding ?
Thanks for your suggestions guys but I knew that you would reproach me with using x265, that's why I didn't want to go into details :? My question was about x265 encoding speed, not wether I should use x264 or x265  I'm very happy with x265, I just find it slow. @musicvid : I use low bitrates ...

Re: Is there room for Handbrake to speed up x265 encoding ?
After many tests, I was more satisfied with the visual quality of x265 than x264. Don't you think that 2000kbs is a low bitrate for 1080p@50fps ?

Re: Is there room for Handbrake to speed up x265 encoding ?
@Mduell/@Rollin : Thanks for your replies but I wasn't complaining about the slowness of my encodings in particular but the slowness of x265 encoding in general. I know that what makes mine very slow is the fact that I encode 50FPS at 2000kbs/2-PASS with Medium preset but I don't want to change any ...

Rodeo, you gave some very useful information that I'm sure a lot of us didn't know. I think it should be mentionned somewhere on the docs or pinned on the forums.
