Re: How to rip a dvd on iMac running 10.8.2
When Handbrake if longer has access to those libraries, then what are you going to do? Or media formats that Handbrake will never be able to read? Having a half of a dozen Bluray drives better than pre-ripping? I guess. SC All depends on your point of view I suppose. Everyone uses HB a bit differen...

Or you could just obtain multiple DVD drives....GregiBoy wrote:Coz as Rodeo stated "If you want to encode alot od discs"... You can pre-rip to HDD and set up a Handbrake processing queue overnight.

Re: Best preset to achieve highest quality conversion
I'm on the brink using handbrake to convert hundreds of movies into iPad 3/iPhone 5/AppleTV 3 compatible files, and my goal is to achieve the highest possible output quality for each individual file. I'd like to be able to permanently delete the original movies files once I'm done with the conversi...

Re: Handbrake, OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, and system sleep
Maybe I'm missing something but I've been running HB for more or less 3 days strait now with no crashed to either HB or the OS. I have my 27 inch iMac set to Never sleep and to never sleep the HDDs and all seems to be working properly. I'm running the stock 0.9.8 HB off the web site and 10.8.2 with...

Re: How to rip a dvd on iMac running 10.8.2
I inserted the dvd in the iMac. Opened Handbrake. Went to source. Then I get two files Audio_TS Video_TS. Now what do I do? Rip each one of them and if so how do I get them together to make the movie? Select the DVD in the HB Source window as you state above. You'll see the two files but don't sele...

Thanks!
I figured I would stop by and say Hi. Lost a HDD with a TON of TV shows on it and although I was able to recover some data I've got a lot of ripping to do so it seemed like the appropriate time. :)

Mac Users; MetaX? Nope, try MetaZ!
I discovered about 6 or 8 months ago that MetaX was dead for good. The Author got married, had a kid, found Jesus, got a life, blah blah blah, whatever...It's dead. No more updates. Looks like some enterprising soul(s) have take up the code and renamed it "MetaZ" and moved it forward, well...

Re: convert to play on DVD players
If you're on a Mac an App like Toast does this quite well. Thing to remember is, the quality of the DVD video will only be as good as the quality of the original file you use to create it. Garbage in, Garbage out....

Re: VHS tapes to JPEG
Frankly, your best bet is just to go out and buy a combo DVD/VHS player that allows you to copy in both directions. I've had one for a few years now and its come in handy for moving those old VHS [Censored] videos to DVD and then working from there.

Don't know what you've hear about QT failing, but on the Mac side it works just fine for playback. Frankly I prefer QT to iTunes just for the simplicity.

My G5 Quad does the same thing. I have to keep the CPUs throttled back when ripping video. Hopefully your machine is still under some sort of warranty.

Re: Sometimes there is no activity log
IF you're on a Mac there is ALWAYS an activity log, you just don't know it. Somehow I suspect the same is true on Windows. Knowing where to find said log is the real issue here. Maybe if you tell us what system you're on, we can help you... For the record, a staff member has to approve or disapprove...

Re: After encoding and import to iTunes
Hi, Have already tried there? I know the problem is iTunes specific but users of Handbrake are a better help because many will obviously have tried this. Cheers though. Maybe. It's very subjective though. I personally HATE cover-flow, I feel it's the worst way to look at you collection, but my Libr...

Re: best setting to watch dvds on my apple tv?
Um, is this a trick question? :) If you're planning on playing your encodes on the Apple TV, why not use the tuned preset for it? Due to limitations in the hardware, neither the Normal or High Profile presets will work on the Apple TV anyway. no, it's not a trick question. i thought my question was...

It may depend on the region....astrorider wrote:My DVD used TItle 31 (not 37). Do some DVDs really use Title 37 as shown by DVD Player?
I ran Handbrake directly on the DVD itself using Title 31 and a quick scan through the file appears to show the chapters in the correct order.
