Re: DVD Timed photo gallery
That pathfinding seemed rather tortuous, though the eventual solution was reasonably straightforward. Nonetheless it would have been much more convenient for Handbrake to have been able to handle.

Re: DVD Timed photo gallery
Ok. Results: 0. Just to recap, this set of titles has been ripped from DVD to internal storage VIDEO_TS folder, and all efforts proceed from this origin. Effort 1: MakeMKV did not consider the galleries to be titles, at least not with my present settings. So no .mkv files were generated for the gall...

Thanks for the suggestion. I will give it a go. I have used MakeMKV for some while now, but only to rip Blu-Rays.

DVD Timed photo gallery
Description of problem or question: Are there Handbrake settings to deal with DVD slide shows / photo galleries? DVD titles that are essentially photo galleries with audio and timed progression through the slides are encoded as zero length (time), without audio, and with rapidfire showing of all ph...

Re: Subtitle was set to Default but Burned-In instead
Q for s55 or other seer: Re the hundreds of conditions that would require a warning, I have addressed (similar?) situations in my past systems work with compatibility matrices. Are the conditions that you are familiar with w.r.t. Handbrake sufficiently complex or nefarious that a matrix lookup would...

Re: Subtitle was set to Default but Burned-In instead
Thank you for the info. I enjoy the learning, though some of it consumes valuable time.
Is there a possibility of Handbrake showing a warning when adding to the queue or when processing, in order to educate folks like myself that one setting or another will be overridden?
Grazi.

Subtitle was set to Default but Burned-In instead
Description of problem or question: I requested that a subtitle be defaulted but it was burned-in instead. :( It is plain in the activity log that the subtitle was requested to default , but the translation to engine commands contained a burn-in instruction . This is a behavior that I have not seen...

Cannot choose preset before (first) opening (first) source
Description of problem or question: Handbrake, upon being run, is not allowing me to choose a preset before (first) loading a (first) source file/folder. That creates an issue with the naming of my output files, because the file names have {quality} as part of the name. But the {quality} variable d...

Re: Resume a title conversion - Even feasible?
Thank you for that. Belaboring the issue, I understand that, within an .mp4 container, multiple objects can be held. Is there any sequence indicator, and possibly a flag, that would signal that playback is to continue from one to another in the sequence, with the same effect as sequenced chapters?

Re: Resume a title conversion - Even feasible?
Your answers above are accepted in their entirety, but could you, in the pursuit of widened distribution of knowledge (i.e. to me), point me to a treatise that provides an architectural overview of an encoding operation or of an encoded file? I am curious as to what information is carried forward in...

Resume a title conversion - Even feasible?

In particular it seems that MS updates of late can cause the computer to be less stable even if more secure. Regardless of ...

Blu Ray audio tracks undetected
Description of problem or question: Handbrake is detecting "only" 8 of 11 available audio tracks on a Blu Ray video. One would think that 8 is enough, but missing from those that Handbrake detects is one of the 2 commentary tracks on this particular video. Now, given that 8 is a power of ...

Setting default audio track and subtitle in Handbrake - should be simple, right?

Setup: I have request...

Re: Can't build 10.2 on Fedora 22
Hi Mike. Yeah, when I said 'diff' type comparison, I intended to imply that there could be some shallow differences that would point to needed deep dives before automated comparison would be of help. As you yourself imply, 6900 lines of difference is not a very helpful starting place. A good part of...
