Hi, thanks for that. 
I used ATV Flash to set it all up if that gives you a clue!
Here it implies that I already have the tools required to get true 1080p HD once the card is installed. What do you think?

First generation Apple TV fitted with Broadcom HD Decoder
Hi, I have a first generation Apple TV fitted with a Broadcom HD Decoder. Could someone please give me settings that will make the best use of this please? Obviously I want 1080p output and most of my material will be from Blu-Ray or DVD. Thanks for any advice. I'm currently running Handbrake versio...
