No Valid Sources Found for playing AV1/Opus file(s)
HandBrake version: 1.5.1 Operating system and version: macOS 10.15.7 HandBrake Activity Log : https://pastebin.com/07y1mbFV Description of problem or question: I have a set of eight video files, all AV1 video with Opus audio in an MKV file, all are fully playable in VLC. However when I attempt to l...

Re: Issues with h265 and anamorphic scaling?
Could you please post your logs This log is from the original full encode that encountered the problem (i.e- had anamorphic set to auto, encoding full file): HandBrake Activity Log for Session: 2017-07-03 08:33:51 +0100 Handbrake Version: 1.0.7 (2017040900) source.mp4 Preset: Custom [08:33:51] macg...

Issues with h265 and anamorphic scaling?
I was going to put this in bugs, but I haven't found a good way to reproduce it as not all of my files are affected. Basically I have anamorphic scaling set to auto (I think that's the default?), but I've encountered a tiny number of files that won't encode properly as h265 with this enabled, forcin...

What Slows Down nlmeans?
So I've been experimenting with nlmeans for removing noise from files, but I've had mixed results. In general the resulting quality is excellent, but the performance varies wildly and I'm not entirely sure why, as some sources are hardly slowed down at all compared to hqdn3d, while others are slowed...

Re: Is it possible to trim a clip without quality loss?
On the Mac, there used to be a tool called MPEGStreamclip for that purpose. It's been years since I used it, though. This is what I use; it still works on Yosemite, but its performance with HD video leaves a lot to be desired. Its ability to jump to the nearest keyframe is crucial though, as you al...

Re: Queue Improvements
Wouldn't have them as right-click option though, better as Buttons as then you could select a number of items and press the Move to Top/Bottom button. It shouldn't matter which method is used; there are plenty of Mac programs that can use a contextual menu to affect multiple items, and as Woodstock...

Re: Queue Issues After Editing an Item
How stable is the nightly build? Is it likely to erase my current queue? I have quite a lot of items queued up already, which is why I only recently updated to 0.10.0 (once the previous batch was cleared) :) If anyone is already running the current nightly build then perhaps they can try the steps t...

Queue Issues After Editing an Item
This is a pretty strange bug, and may be Mac specific (it's the only version I have). Information : Handbrake v0.10.0 running on Mac OS X 10.10.2. Steps to Reproduce : Setup Handbrake with a queue of items. Set queue running (may not be necessary, but I have encodes to finish before I can try on a h...

Re: Queue Improvements
Does HB doing sleep/shutdown when complete not address the situation? I prefer to just queue up everything as I get it so I have one big queue of items, I'll then just leave Handbrake running for X amount of time, and then when I come back to it I let whatever is currently encoding finish, then sto...

Re: Queue Improvements
I tend to just queue everything once the file(s) are ready, so I don't have to do it later and can just leave Handbrake running and see how far it gets by the end of day. Anything it doesn't finish can then be resumed the next day. For example, if Items A and B only take ~30 minutes to encode, but I...

Queue Improvements
This is a request for some or all of the following additions to the right-click menu in the queue window. I'm only familiar with the Mac GUI for Handbrake, so apologies if any of these exist on other platforms: Move to Top : Moves the selected task to the head of the queue (i.e- after all completed ...

Re: Capping CPU Usage
We have a difference of opinion. I have already said it is not core. You don't agree. End of discussion. For it to be a discussion you'd have to have actually given a reason why it's not core, rather than just saying it is isn't, linking to an article that doesn't really clarify and then ignoring t...

Re: Capping CPU Usage
I don't repeat myself. Your response so far has been to essentially say "we can't implement GUI elements for every suggestion in here", which doesn't really say anything as that's a given. You then followed up by saying you don't implement anything that isn't core to what Handbrake does, ...

Re: Capping CPU Usage
Fantastic; so in other words you can't be actually bothered discussing any reasons for or against, so why is there even a suggestions forum at all?JohnAStebbins wrote:TL;DR

Re: Capping CPU Usage
Keep arguing with the actual developers. I'm sure this thread will go places. As opposed to just allowing the suggestion to be trivially dismissed without arguing its case, in which case it's just so likely it'll "go places"? I'm just making a case for why the suggestion would be useful, ...

Re: Capping CPU Usage
The HB devs generally have less than zero interest in working around defective hardware/thermal solutions. Defective? What in the hell are you even talking about here? The simple fact is that smaller computers (of which there are increasingly large numbers) are more thermally constrained, even with...

Re: Capping CPU Usage
Adding that kind of extremely uncommonly used feature very quickly leads to a kitchen sink application interface I understand this, but really it's just one dropdown menu or a slider or whatever to give some control number of threads/CPU load. Otherwise at present if a user runs Handbrake, discover...

Re: Capping CPU Usage
you'd be better off just limiting threads in x264 than handbrake as a whole... x264 will automatically use 1.5*number of cpu threads, you can specify threads by threads=n (n is the number of threads you want it to use) ... like in my case, i have an i3m(2c/4t)... so i use threads=4, or sometimes th...

[Rejected] Capping CPU Usage
Mostly as the title says; I'd like to be able to set resource usage limits for Handbrake (command-line in particular, but GUI versions would be nice too), specifically the ability to set a limit of CPU load; for example setting a limit of 400% on an eight-core system would mean around 50% per core, ...

v0.10.0 Will Not Load Previous Queue
I have a queue with a bunch of items in it still waiting to encode, but after updating to v0.10 I just can't get it to import them. I first noticed that the location has changed to ~/Library/Application Support/HandBrake/Queue, but simply moving my old queue.plist doesn't work; when I open HandBrake...

[Accepted] Reload Queue by Default
Basically it'd be nice if Handbrake got an option in its preferences (or on the reload queue dialogue itself) that allowed the queue to be reloaded by default; I often have far more items in my queue than my computer can encode in a single day, so I'm frequently reloading my queue, and the last thin...

Re: Provide Warning for Files Larger than 4gb
Input size has no relation to output size. I'm well aware of that, all I was saying was that if the input file is over 4gb, then there's the possibility the output size will likewise be over 4gb, so I felt it made sense for Handbrake to then remind the user of this in case they haven't set the Larg...

Re: Provide Warning for Files Larger than 4gb
Ah, well I wasn't thinking of the output file size; just a warning if the source file is over 4gb, just as a reminder.
However, if you're replacing the mp4 library then this presumably won't be needed, thanks!

Provide Warning for Files Larger than 4gb
Okay, so I mostly work with files that come out well below 4gb, but I very occasionally encounter ones that will go over. While some of these seem to work fine (e.g - ones that hit 4.7gb rarely have problems), others won't work at all unless the Large file size option is selected. Anyway, what I'd l...

Re: Handbrake Failing to Scan Files
Hmm, the files did come from before I used Handbrake so I probably just re-saved the MKVs to get QuickTime to play nice, I have definitely re-encoded re-saved files but maybe it's the header compression you mentioned that's screwing with it. I'll give ffmpeg a try to see if I can just encode them us...
