Re: Super small file
Always have a hard time comparing multiple videos, one at a time or otherwise. In this case it's a Dolby Vision video so the source is kind of washed out on my PC.

Thanks for the replies. Below are dropbox links with an image of a frame of the original, one with CQP19 and one with CQP16. Re: Super small file
Obviously not going to be able to share the file but can say the source bitrate averages 56mb/s and the output file is only like 6mb/s. Was my understanding a HEVC CQP 19 or lower was nearing lossless visually anyway. I know I can take older footage, remastered 4k, that has a lot of grain and the re...

Super small file
Description of problem or question: I am encoding a BD disk that the source file is 4k HDR10 and about 77 gigs i n size into HEVC MKV file using NVEnc with my NVidia RTX 3080 ti. I'm using CQP and used to various quality files returning different size results but this is nuts. So it's a 2 1/2 hour ...

Auto convert all files specific way
I have a boat load of videos in various folders and I wanted to do the following: 1. Convert them all to MKV 2. Convert them all the HEVC 3. Convert them back into their source folder 4. Leave the audio as is. 5. Want the bitrate 2/3 of what the original is. Prefer just using constant. 6. Want const...

Re: Lossless
Yeah, I'm finding it challenging finding any data on how to play this format which makes this lossless kind of unusable. I wouldn't expect playability to be a concern for using any lossless codec. Portability and compression efficiency are what define digital intermediates, not deliverability. But ...

Re: Lossless
Thanks for the reply mduell. I do not fully agree with you but don't want to start an argument. I feel if Handbrake has chosen a particular format for their lossless encoding, they should support or at least know of methods for using it. After all what good is a tool like handbrake if the resulting ...

Re: Lossless
Thanks Rodeo. Yeah, I'm finding it challenging finding any data on how to play this format which makes this lossless kind of unusable. Hopefully someone has an idea how to play it. Nice if Handbrake supported like MagicYUV or Lagarith even. Something that seems more compatible.

Lossless
I thought I was using lossless in handbrake for a while now to generate MP4 intermediate files for Premiere only to realize one time looking at the logs that I wasn't. Even though you set CQ to 0 and it says lossless, unless you set the H.264 profile to Auto it will create some other variant that is...

Dts to ac3
I have a mkv file I need to convert the audio to ac3 for my particular application. Plus fee code the video as my editor cant process it. Video aside, I pick the dts track for audio, however to make a 5.1 ac3 do I pick ac3 codec and then 5.1 channels or pick the ac3 passthru codec option? Passthru c...

Import Sub can't burn in
I have a movie that I want to hand code the foreign language subs in because my Xbox can't read them off the hard drive. I have the forced.srt file as I'm calling it. When I click "Import SRT" Handbrake loads it, but there is no option to burn it in. If I pick some of the other subtitles a...

Burn In Sub error
I am using handbrake SVN5851 (nightly) and when I add a subtitle and click "Burn In", get the below error: System.Exception: No target found for method SelectBurnedInTrack. at Caliburn.Micro.ActionMessage.Invoke(Object eventArgs) in c:\Users\Rob\Documents\CodePlex\caliburnmicro\src\Calibur...

convert few minutes
In Handbrake GUI I don't see an option for doing a test convert. So instead of converting my two hour video, want to test the first 5 minutes to review the output. Is there a command in the Extra Options block under the video tab to limit the duration it converts? I've tried the --stop-at duration:3...

Converted BluRay lighter than original
I have an unencrypted personal BluRay that I am using handbrake to convert to lossless mp4. Latest handbrake nightly build. Lossless as it's going to go thru another editing sequence and want to minimize quality loss between steps. Use: High profile preset MP4 container Lossless X264 preset ultra fa...

Re: Lossless settings
Thanks for the reply. I was able to get rf 0 to open in Vegas, however honestly one time I couldn't. Been messing around so much hard to keep track what may have been different each time but always pick rf 0 so must have been something else that allowed vegas to open it.

I have some unencrypted BluRay disks I am archiving. I need to open them in Sony Vegas to apply some filters on them. Problem is video is VC-1 and doesn't open in Vegas or if does outputs like the frame rate is slow. And Vegas doesn't support mkv for ref. I am trying to create an MP4 that it can ope...
