Re: 1920 HD files stay stuck at 1680

[12:17:21] scan: 10 previews, 1920x1080, 23.976 fps, autocrop = 0/0/0/240, aspect 16:9, PAR 1:1
Handbrake is detecting a 240-pixel-wide blank area. If you want it there, turn auto-crop off and set the crop values to all zeros.

So, is 1.0.7 trying to write to the same directory that you didn't have permission to write to with 1.1.2?

Re: HandBrake produces unplayable MKV files.

Let me suggestion a slightly more exaggerated test... First, extract the video from the disk using a different tool. MakeMKV would be a good start, because the result is an MKV file. I would suggest making sure all tracks within the title are extracted into the MKV; This topic over on the MakeMKV fo...

Re: AC3 Codec & Batch Processing

If you do it with handbrake, the video is going through an additional "generation" of compression. Each generation costs quality, unless it's loss-less, which is going to make the file VERY big.

Using ffmpeg, you could convert JUST the audio track, leaving the video untouched.

Re: Compression size difference with and without Quick Sync Video

In my experimentation with QSV, I found that simply changing the encoder on a given preset resulted in about a 5% increase in size for a QSV result. My experiment lasted only a few days - the size/quality advantage of x264 vs qsv_h264 convinced me that I'll spend the CPU cycles, and let handbrake fi...

Re: Breakdown TV series DVD into episodes

Plex can handle the "raw" MKV files generated by MakeMKV, if that is your question, but you can also use handbrake to make them smaller. As I recall (I did it for someone else), the compressed files were about 1/3rd the original size. I use MakeMKV to rip optical disks, but everything goes through h...

Are you sure the subtitle track's time stamps are 100% valid? If the first time stamp is prior to the start of the video, it will not be displayed.

Re: Breakdown TV series DVD into episodes

When I ripped BBT with MakeMKV, it found the individual episodes. It may have also found the "all in one" title, but the individual titles WERE present on the disk.

This is one reason why handbrake is not trying to be a ripper.

If you had provided the required log, we could see if you are allowing DTS pass-through in your settings. As mentioned, the container makes a difference, but the preset might still limit the pass through.

Re: Can't detect H.265 QSV encoder when UWD installed

If QSV is working in h.264, the encoder hardware isn't "off", even without the monitor attached.

A quick search on Google shows that other software is having trouble seeing h.265 capabilities under the new UWP driver. Maybe they forgot to include that in the driver?

Re: How to Get DTV shows onto *.MKV file on computer - Step-By-Step

Ah, you're using the "analog hole" to record, rather than pulling from the DirecTV recorder, where the files do have copy protection. I used to do this (computer) eons ago with TiVo standard definition recordings, but buying blank DVDs was a bit much, and things didn't work if you forgot to "close" ...

Re: How to Get DTV shows onto *.MKV file on computer - Step-By-Step

OK, DirecTV uses copy protection on their recordings, so the first thing your step-by-step is going to incorporate using software not associated with handbrake that strips that copy protection. That is really outside the scope of handbrake and this forum, since handbrake is not intended to remove co...

Re: How to Get DTV shows onto *.MKV file on computer - Step-By-Step

If you're asking for a "step by step", you have given no information to help you.

If you're providing a "step by step", you should use a current version of handbrake to do it, and you have not provided any steps.

Start with answering, "What is a DTV show?"

Re: handbrake feezes during queue

OK, then we're back to the Intel video driver. Intel put out a bunch of versions in the last year or so that had bugs that affected handbrake, but I did not try keeping track of them, so I don't know if "Intel(R) HD Graphics 530 - 20.19.15.4463" is one of them; the developers probably have a list, t...

Re: Best settings for h265 nvenc small files

According to this page, Intel has decided 95C is the maximum die temperature. So, if your cooling is keeping it at 60C at 100% CPU load overclocked, then you should not have to worry about using your video card to "save" your CPU.

Re: Best settings for h265 nvenc small files

If your processor is going over 70c during an overclocked encode, you need to install a proper cooling system. And make sure you get the heat out of the case, too. An "easy overclock to 4ghz" is 150% of rated speed; Your processor cooling should be sized to 200% of stock. If it's less than 70c, you ...

There will be a minor slowdown, but the software decode can handle a lot of things the hardware decoder blows up on. The encode is the slow part.

Re: how to keep dts core of my track dts-hdmaster for example

DTS-HD contains the core for compatibility; It contains extra information for converting the lossy core to a lossless version. In the case of MakeMKV, it has the option of creating a separate, "core only" track within the MKV file, which you can then "pass through" with handbrake. I do not believe h...

Re: Load chapter for editing

If the disk is encrypted, the starting point would be to rip the disk with a tool like MakeMKV, to remove the encryption.

Then handbrake can work on the MKV file.

Re: how to keep dts core of my track dts-hdmaster for example

If you pass through the DTS-HD audio, it will contain the core.

If you rip the Bluray with MakeMKV, it will have the option to produce a separate DTS core track, in addition to the DTS-HD track.

Re: Can't detect H.265 QSV encoder when UWD installed

Bottleneck reduction - change your work flow. Rip with a ripper (MakeMKV is what I use) to MKV files, then you can queue those up for handbrake and let it work at whatever speed it wants. Your time is spent in the ripping process (changing disks and such). After that, the computer can deal with it. ...
