Re: No ÆØÅ æøå in the Norwegian subtitles...

Problem one is that you are running a version that is no longer supported. Problem two is whether the SRT file contains the actual character and that it is encoded properly. The assumption is that you have told handbrake that the file is using the character code that you selected for it. Some will w...

Which subtitles are you having issues with? The DVD subtitle track seems to be being passed through, but the second has issues.

Then using the ffmpeg copy would probably be best, so long as there are no subtitles to worry about.

Re: How to get exact copy of the movie file.

Agree that handbrake isn't the tool. There are unknowns that affect what COULD be the tool, though. Examples: What video format is used? MKV allows more video types than MP4. Are there subtitles? MKV and MP4 do not share soft subtitle formats in general . Some MKV-compatible formats cannot be includ...

Re: Add chapters

Adding chapters usually involves adding a "chapter track". Ripping the video from the source disk usually includes a chapter track unless it wasn't specified to be ripped. The track looks a lot like a subtitle track, and specifies the beginning and end of each section, often along with a n...

Code: Select all

[10:37:17] * Foreign Audio Search: Render/Burn-in, Forced Only
[10:37:17] + subtitle, English (PGS) (track 0, id 0x9, Picture)
You want "all" subtitles, but your commands say "search for just the foreign audio ones". What are you REALLY wanting to do?

Re: how to extract subtitles only from dvd

Handbrake does not have a function to extract JUST the subtitle tracks from a video, so you would need a different tool.

Also, the default subtitle tracks on DVDs are pictures of the text, not SRT-style subtitles; do you already have a graphics-to-text conversion program?

Re: Update not working

Windows 10 is where Microsoft started isolating software. When you have two packages that need to talk to each other (handbrake and your library that reads DVDs), they have to KNOW about each other - in fact, the usual method is to copy the library file to wherever you installed handbrake, because i...

Re: Update not working

Handbrake has not included "DVD read" software in over a dozen years. If you have a version that will read a DVD disk, it is because you installed a third-party library to do it. But "raw" Handbrake does NOT. On Mac systems, it will use built-in Mac software to perform this. Such...

You need to install third-party software to directly read DVDs in handbrake. Handbrake last included that in the 0,9 series, 12+ years ago.

What happened to that driver since it last worked?

Re: Handbrake does not add or burn in any subtitles on any language.

Output file type MP4. Subtitle type PGS. PGS subtitles are NOT COMPATIBLE with MP4 files, except as butn-in. Since they aren't tagged as any particular language, rules about "burn in subtitles for language X" would not apply. Given your input, the program is doing what it can. That just is...

You are just NOW seeing high CPU usage with handbrake? What were you running previously that slowed it down? Or did you change your priorities, moving handbrake from background (typical) to foreground (atypical) settings?

Re: Bulk processing

Short answer is "Yes". Long answer is more complicated, depending upon what you intend to do. Are you processing a number of files in the same way? You may want to use the command-line version, and queue things up for it. But you can load more than one file in the GUI version, and process ...

Re: writes 1920x1080

Your log says you are using a larger setting in the NAME of the preset, but the preset itself is 1920x1080 for maximum size. It then resizes the video to fit that window, leaving you with 1440x1080.

Your preset needs to have the maximum dimensions removed to prevent the rescaling.

Does your ripping software not provide any help on this? What you are describing seems to be a copy protection process used by Lionsgate, an optical disk manufacturer, where you have to know which title is actually used for the movie, or else you get "out of order" scenes. Different rippin...

Among the questions that such a log would provide insight into, are "What type of subtitles?", "What type output file?", and. "What did you ask handbrake to do?"

Right now, we know that you start with MKV files, but not what type you end with.

Re: What changes would I need to make to the HandBrakeCLI build to create a 32-bit Windows command?

Probably because the current versions aren't intended to run on 32-bit systems. It has been a number of years since they compiled to 32-bit code. Edited to add: Version 1.0.7 seems to be the last version that offered a 32-bit version. https://handbrake.fr/rotation.php?file=HandBrakeCLI-1.0.7-win-i68...

Apparently, you have installed a third-party DVD reading library, but have not figured out how to get the non-GUI command line program to use it. Did the third-party vendor not include those instructions?

Re: Re Transcoding with hard coded forced subs

With no information to work with, it is very hard to guess at what you need to do. If the subtitles are already hard-coded, there would not be a reason to "encode them in". Do you want the file "bigger", "smaller", or "same size"? How was it encoded originally...

Re: Encoding starts and ends w/o a result

Handbrake reports that the DVD decoder stopped sending data to it, citing a read error. It finished with what it had.

Finding out why your DVD drive could not read the disk will be helpful, but this isn't an actual handbrake issue.

A log that shows what you have would be nice. No, let's say it's pretty much required.

I transfer multiple subtitles to videos quite often, but not knowing what you have, it is hard to say, "Do this and it will fix it!"
