Re: Height changes from 480 to 478

During the scan, handbrake looked at 40 frames, and found black lines at the top of them. It then cropped the image to remove the black lines. If you MUST retain the black lines, you can disable auto-crop and set the cropping values to zeros. Handbrake will then encode the black lines into the output.

Re: Handbrake create 2 copies of each episode.

Because the disk authors created it that way? Generally, when they do that, there is a menu to select certain features (commentary/no commentary), and the appropriate language tracks will be played. Handbrake doesn't know that, though, so when you say "encode everything", everything is encoded. Some...

Re: Video Encoder QuickSync 265 Not Recognized

At the start of the scan, you left out the portion where handbrake probed the QSV capabilities. If your hardware or the video driver doesn't have QSV h265 support, you will get errors if you try to use it.

Re: Extract all tracks from a DVD?

Ripping software like MakeMKV and similar, have this feature. They normally do NO recoding, so there is no change in quality.

Handbrake isn't a ripper. And it will ALWAYS recode the video.

Re: Is subtitle "pass through" planned?

If your destination were MP4 files, the subtitles can be an issue. because of the limitations of MP4. I pass subtitles through to MKV files all the time, without issue... but you've got the added complication of Plex, which may be doing things to "enhance the compatibility" with your playback device...

Re: HandBrake 1.2.2 - AnyDVD - Movie The Internship

MakeMKV doesn't need AnyDVD. Turning off subtitles in handbrake is easy enough, just remove the tracks under the subtitle tab. You can even set a default behavior to not include any subtitles. If your target is MP4, though, you may want to include an empty subtitle track to "hide" the chapter track ...

Re: New Windows Update KB4514359 broke Handbrake

Searching for KB4514359 on Google, I see an announcement from Microsoft that says "no known problems" with the patch, and a slew of "Program no longer runs if installed" messages. Apparently, if you have MSI Afterburner running, games no longer run with the patch installed. Others reported problems ...

Re: SSD-PCIe vs. SATA

If filemanger works like Windows Explorer, it is trying to determine things about each file before it displays them. That involves opening them and reading part of the, to do it accurately. Windows Explorer gets REALLY slow when dealing with lots of media files in a directory.

Re: SSD-PCIe vs. SATA

I use an NAS for source and destination. It has dedicated caching so running multiple encodes on different machines isn't an issue, even with multiple MakeMKV rips going on. Handbrake still ends up being CPU limited.

Actual RIPPING programs like MakeMKV have issues with ripping the correct title on Lionsgate disks. Are you trying to get handbrake to do it?

Handbrake isn't a ripper.

A search for "Windows ryzen scheduler problem" finds posts from June (after your initial post) that say that Microsoft "finally" fixed the scheduler issue that "didn't exist" on Ryzen processors with the 1809 update to Win10.

Must be true - it was said on internet. Reddit, even. Internet never lies.

Somebody might, but it would probably be more useful to know what the SOURCE material is, since handbrake generally isn't going to upscale or turn a source into pseudo-stereoscopic.

Then we really can't help you yet... If the source isn't usable, the circumstances where handbrake would be able to help that situation are few. But there still are some; why not give it a try? It would give us more information to work with, at the very least.

You did not include the encoding portion of the log, which will show us the settings used to generate the output file.

Also, what are you trying to play it back on?

"GPU encoders" is a misnomer - the video encoding hardware is separate from the GPU, so GPU processors and memory aren't used.

Re: Handbrake just not working

From what you've written so far, it seems you're trying to rip disks using handbrake, as well as encode it. But, without the logs, that's just a wild guess. Ripping has not been supported in over a decade. Any errors detected on the disk will be treated as "end of track". Actual ripping software let...

Was this a recording of an over-the-air transmission? The source has a LOT of continuity errors.

When you watch the output, is the the end actually missing, or does it occur earlier than it should?

Re: HandBrakeCLI: Read preset from JSON file

You don't have to export-then-import them...

--preset-import-gui Import presets from GUI config preset file.

But you can:

--preset-import-file <filespec> Import presets from a json preset file. 'filespec' may be a list of files separated by spaces, or it may use shell wildcards.
