Found a thread on Apple's forums where people took the MPEG-2 file and changed the extension to MOD for direct import to FCPX. Did it, and it worked like a charm. So... 1. Pull into FCPX as MOD 2. I went with RF20 because I tried different RF settings, and RF20 was the one that was only slightly higher than the bitrate of the original. I figured I was "upcoming" and adding wasted space/time.

Anyone else have any thoughts?
