Handbrake 0.9.3 High Profile Film produces choppy video

Long time Handbrake user here... I noticed recently with 0.9.3 than when I encode with the High Profile -> Film preset that the last ~10 minutes of most of my encodes end up playing back really chopping VLC. I'm talking numerous dropped frames every second. It's really bizarre, I have no idea why th...

Re: 0.9.2 5.1 syncing

Since I'm using the 0.9.2 public release I just wanted to chime in here and say that I have with numerous DVDs that the AC3 5.1 audio is going out of sync using the Deux Six Quatre preset. I'd say close to 50% of my rips have out of sync audio, the bizarre thing being that it only seems to occur in ...

I am using Windows Vista to use mkvmerge. All I do is I add the file to mkvmerge, then have it output it without merging it with anything. Its basically a 2-click process and is very easy. I can show you with screenshots if you need me to. Sure, that'd be great. Maybe PM me so we don't clutter up t...

Handbrake has never outputted good MKV files, see my original post on the subject that was never really answered nor explained. What OS are you running mkvmerge on, MeltingIce, and when you say "run it through" what exactly are you doing? I'll try one of the newer builds to see if there's ...

There's still a lot of problems with MKV files in 0.9.1. Not only do they crash VLC a lot, they're not being created properly. For example, I have a DVD of Flushed Away. The movie is 1:24:32 in length. If I encode it with settings similar to the iPod Low preset, I get a nice .mp4 that's the correct ...

I hate to keep playing telephone, but this is the latest from my friend after I relayed this post: That sounds weird to me, since VLC is the only player than can play the file without extreme problems. Zoom Player doesn't even try to play it, but merely gives me an error message about a corrupted st...

Yea, I long ago turned chapters off after I tried it with the preset, got the muxing problem, searched the forums, and got my answer ;)

If you could gently prod jbrjake in the direction of this post when you/he has a chance, that would be terrific. thanks!

Thanks for the reply, Hawkman. Re: 1 -- I know about the chapter issue. This isn't what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the actual successfully encoded output, there is something definitely awry in both the audio/video muxing with Handbrake and the video itself. More info from my friend: "...

MKV muxing issues, wrong QuickTime duration

Issue 1 I am using the Deux Six Quatre preset. I was having problems playing my rips on certain systems. A guy who knows a lot about these things took a look at the rip and said: "There seems to be something funny with the way it's muxed as well... I can't extract any streams using the commong...

Thanks for the clarification, jbrjake! I actually bumped down the merange to 32 in my latest try earlier today (previous to this post) and didn't see much of a speed improvement there, but I'll try 16 or 24 tomorrow and let you know how much better it goes, if at all. I'll also explore those other H...

Thanks for the quick response, dynaflash! As I enjoy my presets a little too much to use the workaround, I'll simply wait for the bug fix release and keep on chugging along with my higher-res rips!

Slow H.264 High Profile Encoding

Since High Profile support wasn't that nicely built into 0.8.5 (but now is in 0.9.0) I thought I'd finally ask my question. Apologies in advance if it has been addressed before, I tried multiple searches and came up empty handy. When High Profile support was added, I immediately started using it. I ...

This a known issue. Don't click the resize button so fast. Everytime you click it *once* it has to resize 10 previews and HB can't keep up. It's not just a matter of clicking too fast. For me, it crashes every time I try scaling below 528px wide, even if I wait several minutes between resizes. I ha...
