Preset from HB 1.4.2 > 1.6.0
Question: Trying to import preset exported from HB 1.4.2 > get an error that preset needs to be recreated. There is no other way? Perhaps I'll just open HB in my old laptop and walk throught HandBrake version (e.g., 1.0.0): 1.4.2 Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, macOS 10.13 Hig...

But there is, just go into Tools > Preferences > General and you'll find "When done" -section with e.g. options to play audio file.

Re: Green line on bottom of encode
Do you still get the green line if you disable hardware decoding in preferences? Yes, just tested with the same .MKV whilst had disabled "Enable QuickSync Decoding" (toggle off). When playing the HB created MKV in Kodi > there is still the green line visible. Strange is, when playing the ...

Re: Green line on bottom of encode
Seems that with the latest HB (1.2.2) the green bottom line has appeared again. Please find the encode log of such. Repeatable: yes. Q: About Audio encoding
Hi, Just recently realized that I have been stupid and "downmixed" my MKV's audio to 5.1 when I could have used Auto Passthru. Seems my A/V receiver (Yamaha RX-V685; 2018 model) can handle that nicely (just tested with Ocean's 8) when played through LibreElec / KODI. Now my question is: Is...

Re: QSV encoded file-size larger than source
Larger than the source? Same preset, for movie, typically shrinks down to 20-25% compared to source. For a concert, size increased compared to source. But ok, things can happen, I rest my case.

Re: QSV encoded file-size larger than source
I encoded a movie, source MKV size ~34 Gig > after encoding with my preset (the SAME I used for the concert) file-size ~3 Gig with good quality, no errors whatsoever. Here's HB log of that: https://pastebin.com/g6tAupAf So, any further thoughts on the concert encoding file-size (when compared to mov...

Re: QSV encoded file-size larger than source
Appreciated, thx. The preset used in both (Movie, Concert) is in the 1st post as link to pastebin. Yes, I'm absolutely no expert in video encoding - just wondering what could be so significantly complex in the concert MKV file that it does not shrink at all. Yet, I do accept that there's no magic (i...

QSV encoded file-size larger than source
Description of problem or question: QSV encoding produced larger file than source. Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable): MakeMKV 1.4.1 produced Matroska file, size ~16.6 Gigs. Encoded (with success) using my preset (see log). Output file-size ~17.6 Gigs (= ~1 Gig bigger than the source fi...

Re: HB error when using QSV (Error Code -17)
OK, thx a lot for response. This happened to me now for the 1st time and if it's very random, yeah, I can just use another encoding method in such case. Yet interested in evaluating the DirectX9 option when available.
Appreciated.

HB error when using QSV (Error Code -17)
Description of problem or question: A MKV video I attempt to encode using H.264 (Intel QSV) fails with an Error code -17, hb_qsv_wait_on_sync 602. Encoded three files, this happened only to one of the (two successful ones with QSV). Steps to reproduce the problem (If Applicable): While encoding the...

Re: Intel QSV (H.264) Coding generates messy outputs
Now, after further testing: 1) After disabling QSV decoding from preferences > Issue vanished and produces quality MKVs (speed drop 30-40% but tolerable with 70-85 fps). 2) The problem seems also mostly to be related to MKVs produced from Bluray discs, not so from DVDs (HTH). So as temporary solutio...

Re: Intel QSV (H.264) Coding generates messy outputs
Hi all. Yet again, the totally messy output when using QSV (with latest official HB 1.0.7 64-bit) on Windows. If I do the same using say x264 or x265, the the output does not pixxellate. So weird, so weird! Edit: Here's the log (when using QSV > totally pixellated output), no visible errors during H...

Re: Intel QSV (H.264) Coding generates messy outputs

Re: Intel QSV (H.264) Coding generates messy outputs
mkvtoolnix for cutting a sample (say 5 sec) clip from ~18 Gt source MKV file...? Hmmm... too complicated for me (with mkvtoolnix). Any other free video editing tools capable of doing this "sample clipping"...
Or dummy instructions for mkvtoolnix for that specific operation

Re: Intel QSV (H.264) Coding generates messy outputs
Okey, with what free / opensource sw (in Windows) to cut a few seconds sample from the MakeMKV generated "original" video? Without compressing etc. that so it remains "intact"?
No, I do not have the issue with QSV-path.

Any progress on isolating the issue?
The issue still remains with latest Nightly Build (2017010601 - 64 bit)
Other info / help needed?

Re: Intel QSV (H.264) Coding generates messy outputs
I'm using QSV H.264, It's so much faster (with good quality) than anything else on my HW. Messy output: I put manually the cropping to 0 (top & bottom). Result is still the same (messy). The weird thing is that this messyness and OK swap every 1-2 sec (OK 1-2 sec, messy, 1-2, OK 1-2 sec...) Here...

Re: Intel QSV (H.264) Coding generates messy outputs
Hi maxim_d33, I have not used any resize / shaping filters. Only automatic crop. QSV encoding is the only that fails by producing these messy outputs (no matter what .mkv source I use). Running now with H.265 but it's _so_ slow, only 8-15 FPS... With QSV on HB 0.10.5 I got ~200 FPS. So I definitely ...
