Encode fails with Intel and DTS sound

I am doing backups of my kids´ Blu-Rays and I got the following conclusions/issues: I am doing backup with an Intel i5-4200U (Haswell) + SSD + 8GB RAM + Win10 64-bit + Intel QSV (Máx Quality, Bitrate around 3000kbps, Full HD) + Audio Passthrough Situation A) original MKV (from Blu-Ray) has AC3 or PC...

Re: 2 Issues (Quicksync on 0.10.0; Show Queue on nightly)

I just tried running without the tu=1 option and it's working. However, the frames per second are less than half of what the nightly build gave me. The nightly build gave me an average over 220. The run going on now is averaging around 80 (not much more than a third of the nightly). I am using the ...

Re: 2 Issues (Quicksync on 0.10.0; Show Queue on nightly)

Add the following to advanced encoding options: i-adapt=0:b-adapt=0 We should eventually have a bugfix release where this won't be necessary. Sorry to ask this but: 1) Where would be that? On "Advanced Query"? (I use the GUI version) Otherwise I see no place for that when I choose Quicksy...

Re: 2 Issues (Quicksync on 0.10.0; Show Queue on nightly)

Rodeo: Queue Encoding is damaged! It made SEVERAL copies from the FIRST item of the list!!! I had around 5-6 items, and it encoded (with the different name, as it should) 5-6 TIMES the FIRST item but with different name!!! Example: To encode: Backup_1.mp4 + Backup_2.mp4 + Backup_3.mp4 (on Queue) Out...

2 Issues (Quicksync on 0.10.0; Show Queue on nightly)

I am announcing 2 issues: Issue 1) With the 0.10.0 official, after reinstalling Intel Drivers, it doesn´t encode with Quicksync (task is in 1 sec finished, no errors, but no encoding) When I install the latest nightlies it works well with Quicksync. I deleted everything, reinstalled from zero the 0....

Re: HandBrake 0.10 Release Candidate 1

Well, for the 32-bit, it could set a Warning that for high bitrate 1080p or above, and x265, all the Out of Memory issues are a limitation of the 32-bit technology / RAM limit. Then all those thousands of Tablets/Hybrids with the new Quad Core Atom Z37xx or low end AMDs/Celeron/Pentium/i3 could stil...

Re: HandBrake 0.10 Release Candidate 1

The plan is to ship a 32bit build. How long that's available for, depends on how many people complain about "Out of Memory" errors. Thanks, I ll apreciate. So far, making my backups from Blu-Ray to 1080p MKV with Quick-Sync or medium-quality software encoding never resulted on Out of Memo...

Re: Haswell Quick Sync update

Last time I checked TU1 doesn't offer much bar slower encoding. There is a reason we onlu show 3 presets rather than all 7, and it's not the legacy of the older chips not using all the tu levels. I did not test the TU1 but I plan to. Haswell brought not so much speed, but AFAIK the bet was on quali...

Haswell Quick Sync update

Well, most Intel chips today (even the small Atom Z37xx) provide Quick Sync, but the technology changed over years, and Haswell brought more speed/quality. Gen 1 (Sandy Bridge), Gen 2 (Ivy Bridge): Three target usages (hard-coded quality/performance levels) Gen 3 (Haswell): Seven target usages (hard...

Re: How do I speed up Quick Sync?

Quick Sync is a different part of the SoC (Intel "CPUs" are not only CPUs anymore, but a System-on-a-Chip as from Qualcomm, Apple, Samsung, etc), which is independent from the CPU and GPU. Quick Sync is a circuit just for video (unlike NVIDIA´s CUDA, which depends on the GPU), so unlike CU...

Re: [Feature Request] 32-bit version again!

JohnAStebbins: of course it is a developer option, I am asking based on my experience with the 32 bit version on low end machines, with limited RAM. As I said, with my bluray backups I never had issues like those, both on SW oder HW (Quicksync). I would not continue the discussion, I am just saying ...

Re: [Feature Request] 32-bit version again!

musicvid: handbrake is a video converter, uses no filters per se, has a very simple UI and it does not have the RAM requirements as a proper video editor. That said, 2 GB of RAM (well inside the 32-bit limit, which is 4 GB) should be more than enough, and personally I never needed more than 1.2 GB o...

Re: [Feature Request] 32-bit version again!

I have the original Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 32-bit that came with the machine, and tons of apps/customizations. I (and lots of people) cannot afford/risk an upgrade to 64-bit in this situation because one app is exclusively 64-bit (despite handbrake so good is). Basically you are suggesting a comp...

I don´t know what PGS subtitles are, but my conclusions so far: - 45Gb m2ts Backup made with DVDFab --> then Handbrake (stable) does not see the included subtitles - 45Gb MKV Backup made with MakeMKV --> then Handbrake (nightly ver) sees the included subtitles, but the final (smaller) mkv (despite h...

I already tested the nightly builds and they still DON´T work with the subtitles, THOUGH they are detected, and in theory, should be on the film. I tested with a small part of the movie (chapter 6 to 7) and subtitles were on the menu, they "were" on the file, but were not displayed (both o...
