Re: Obscene Handbrake Speeds *g*
Well I would most certainly be happy to do so if it ever came to fruition... :o Back on the subject of speed. My Mac Pro (newest 8 core model) is running at about 50/60 frames per second average whilst currently encoding my three series of Battlestar Galactica DVD's. Approx 15/16 mins per 45 minute ...

Re: New to mac some advice please
I'd have to second these guys (much more expert) opinion. Having just done several encodes this past few days on my new Mac Pro, I have to agree that the Apple TV setting appears to be (in my opinion) the best all round setting for Apple Gear (barring obviously the iPhone and iPod). I am very tech m...

Re: Using Mac Mini as HTPC, Would ATV Be Best Preset?
Sorry for the delayed response guys but I really appreciate you taking the time to reply. Reason for the delayed response is that I have been mega busy playing with HandBrake on the new Mac Pro :-) lol It seems that from DVD (and for stuff I am not 100% bothered about ultimate picture quality with) ...

Re: New 8 Core MP Nehalem Encode Problems / Crashes...
Ok, so following some further tests today, I have managed to finally get HandBrake to encode a movie without crashing. I updated the presets and then in the audio tab there seemed to be two lots of audio marked, one AC3 pass through and one dolby digital II. I had read somewhere that having two sele...

New 8 Core MP Nehalem Encode Problems / Crashes...
Hi guys... after a little advice if possible please  Have just bought a latest generation Mac Pro with its primary purpose of being the central hub to my house. Not only to handle encodes but to store the files so that Mac Mini's can access them from our lounge and bedroom. First question I gu...

Re: Obscene Handbrake Speeds *g*
I'll post it out tomorrow ;-) lol Sorry to hijack the thread slightly. It was more of a tongue in cheek comment in that I just wondered if I was being a complete pleb and not doing something correctly as its been a while since I did any encoding. I currently have one final encode running and will se...

Re: Obscene Handbrake Speeds *g*
I have the new Intel Xeon “Nehalem" Mac Pro (2x Quad 2.26GHZ) with 8GB Ram. Tries using Handbrake to do some file conversions using the ATV preset at 63% CB and every time Handbrake crashes about half way through. Is there something I am doing wrong as the main reason I bought a Mac Pro was to ...

Using Mac Mini as HTPC, Would ATV Be Best Preset?
I am due to receive a new Mac Mini which will be used as a HTPC in our lounge and I have a new Mac pro upstairs which will act as my media hub and do all of my encoding. I plan on watching all content from the Mac Mini on my Sony 46" LCD TV (quality being all important). It seems you guys have ...

Re: An idiot's guide to using advanced settings???
I'd rather you ban me to be honest mate if that's how its gonna be... I was merely drawing an analogy about the situation. Curious to know how you learnt to drive with no lessons from anyone though... Anyway, lets count how many questions I have asked and how many times you have not yet helped but f...

Re: An idiot's guide to using advanced settings???
If you want good quality videos for your Apple TV. There are just 3 things you need to do. 1.Select the Apple TV presest. Most of the settings you would want for general videos to be displayed on the Apple TV are on this. 2. Check the video source to see if its interlaced http://trac.handbrake.fr/w...

Re: An idiot's guide to using advanced settings???
Just use the preset. Hand-holding won't go too well for you here. Plus the fact that there are enought AppleTV threads in the Devices forum. You made a similar comment in another thread. So what happens to people like me that are very tech minded and want to learn? I presume when you learnt to driv...

An idiot's guide to using advanced settings???
Sorry to be a pain people but I am desperate to get some content on to my Apple TV and like most of us here want to get the best quality encodes possible. I have been reading up on the best settings threads and am getting a better understanding of how to use the code, but I fall down slightly trying...

Re: Post Your "Best Settings" here and Why.
Mate... I have been reading this forum since 10am and am going a little mad I think with info overload. I have a general understanding now about what different things do etc but the code string part I am struggling with. I presume the best way to encode a DVD for Apple TV is to stick with a similar ...

Re: Post Your "Best Settings" here and Why.
It's in the CLI, it's not like he can't pass --decomb on as an extra argument. Well I have pretty much copied the above settings in to my Mac version of the latest Handbrake (ready to start ripping my DVD collection to Apple TV). Is this Decomb thing essential with these settings as I too cannot fi...

Re: Sound but black screen
I have had this with one of my movies on the PS3. Batman Begins don't know hat causes it. Plays fine on my mac. Ill have to test more of my movies to see if more have the problem. Glad I am not the only one here ;-) lol Really eager to backup my movies to a HD in order to then play off of the PS3. ...

PS3 Encoding (vers 0.9.0) Sound But Black Screen. Pls Help !
As the title suggests, I have the latest version of Handbrake and I am looking to convert my DVD collection to PS3 compatible files. The films I have tried with the standard built in PS3 preset are; Anchorman (works fine) Transformers the Movie (works fine) Lucky Number Sleven (Sound but a Black Scr...
