Thanks. Any pros and cons of keeping files the same dimensions as the originals (1920x1080, 1280x720, etc) vs letting hand break resize and trim the black bars?

Obviously there was a reason all the handbrake presets were created the way they are, to resize the files.

Is this the reason the apple tv encoded files will not sync with iPad 3?

Is there anyway to prevent the cropping, and leave files in their original 1920x1080 format while encoding?

Can anyone tell my why the Handbrake presets rescale files to other odd sizes? For example, when encoding a 1920x1080 movie, and selecting the Handbrake Apple TV preset, the output file changes to 1921x1042, or 1920x800? See log below. Apple TV 3 can play 1920x1080 files. Apple TV 3 preset and iPad 3

I have converted a Blu ray I own to Apple TV 3 format, using the Handbrake Apple TV 3 preset. I successfully imported this file into iTunes, and it plays on Apple TV 3 fine. However, when I then try and sync this movie file to iPad 3, it does not work. It says iPad 3 cannot play this movie. I though...
