Re: HandBrake incorrectly sets subtitle track as default

I was just asking a question. A totally sufficient and non-sarcastic answer would have been "I'm unable to say yet when an ETA will be available."
Being a volunteer doesn't justify being an ass.

Re: HandBrake incorrectly sets subtitle track as default

Awesome. Clearly not really going to get anywhere with this - entirely reasonable - line of enquiry. Thanks for the very helpful responses. FYI for anybody who is interested - 1.3.3 official release appears not to have this critical bug, so it seems to have come about somewhere between 1.3.3 and Nig...

Right ... not particularly helpful.
When do you expect to be able to provide an ETA on a fix?

Re: HandBrake incorrectly sets subtitle track as default

Known bug, it's somewhere on github. Thanks for confirming bug. Perhaps a corresponding unit test can be added to release testing to trap this in future. ETA on fix please? As noted this makes HandBrake GUI unusable in what I’m sure are many common use cases. Alternatively please advise most recent...

Re: HandBrake incorrectly sets subtitle track as default

Are you sure you're looking at the correct culprit? VLC tends to play the first subtitle found, regardless of flags. You can test this by changing the order of the subtitles. Yes I’m sure - I explicitly and specifically noted this. No VLC does not tend to play the first subtitle found regardless of...

HandBrake incorrectly sets subtitle track as default

Description of problem or question: Using one of the Matroska presets (e.g. H.265 MKV 480p30, but it seems to happen for any Matroska preset), even when the single subtitle track is specified NOT as default, HandBrake produces a video file with the subtitle track as default. When playing the output...

Duration in title dropdown is different from duration shown

Description of problem or question I've noticed that the duration shown in the title dropdown is different from the duration shown in the top part of the window, to the right of the range selection. Is this by design and if so what is the cause of the difference? HandBrake version 1.1.1 master Oper...

Re: How To Get HB With FDK-AAC + 10-Bit x265 v2.0 (Windows)

On the subject of AAC-FDK - has anybody done any testing of AAC (avcodec) vs AAC (FDK) vs FLAC in 10.0.1? I'm curious about a couple of things: 1. When FDK was first removed, the development team indicated that their intention was to improve the quality of the remaining AAC encoder. Does anybody kno...

Re: Encoding with nightly build produces incomplete file

Take it as stipulated that the dropped frames exist in the source. I can't imagine any user would rather have 93 minutes of missing video, than a video output as framewise-complete as the input with the same dropped frames as the source. The ripping toolchain is not relevant - multiple different too...

Re: Encoding with nightly build produces incomplete file

Not really, you cant really expect the software to work with every piece of rubbish thrown at it. Just because a previous version did the wrong thing by ignoring it you want to keep that bug in the software? Now could there be options to skip/ignore errors, maybe, but they might take a ton of work ...

Re: Encoding with nightly build produces incomplete file

I don't really want to enumerate the tools that I'm using here but the result is the same whatever tool is used.
Does it matter though? I think the relevant point here is that the encode works OK with 0.10.5 but not with nightly, using the same source.

Re: Encoding with nightly build produces incomplete file

Source already ripped to disk, encoding from directory on hard disk produces same result. I have no control over the source. Sure the source may contain an error, I think probably the general expectation is that if the source is complete and playable the encoded file should be complete and playable ...

Encoding with nightly build produces incomplete file

Please describe the problem in as much detail as possible: Using the nightly build (20160424121951-7060fac-master (2016042901) - 64bit Version), encoding produces an incomplete file. Encoding the same source with the latest release version produces a complete file. What are the steps to reproduce t...

Re: Documentation on available encoders

I'm posing the questions to emphasise that the information is missing from the documentation. Making the assumption that I don't know the content is a dangerous and mistaken assumption to make. Not everybody who is a real or potential user of the software is going to be sufficiently informed about t...

Re: Documentation on available encoders

Who do you think you are to tell me whether I know what I'm doing? You have no idea who I am, what I know or what my capabilities are. This sort of arrogance on your part is entirely unjustified and has no place in a community forum like this. Whatever the Internet may have to say about FDK and QSV/...

Documentation on available encoders

Activity log below. The currently available documentation (https://trac.handbrake.fr/wiki/Encoders) describing the encoders available in HandBrake seems to be out of sync with the software. For example, the documentation lists a video encoder called H.264 (Intel QuickSync?), but there's one in the G...

[Duplicate] Pause Queue text has a typo

When jobs are underway and queued up, pressing "Pause" on the queue window pops up a message: "The Queue has been pasued. The currently running job will run to completion and no further jobs will start." The word "pasued" is a typo, it should be "paused". v0.9...

Thanks for pointing that out.
Still requires multiple clicks for the operation, whereas same was achieved with one click in v0.9.8. Please do consider adding the button back in.
