Re: Nightly Build Prompts to Install .Net

1.3.3 uses .NET Framework 4.8 which comes with Windows 10 since the may 2019 update.

The Current snapshot build uses the .NET 5 Desktop runtime which is not included in Windows and must be installed separately.

Re: Audio Stream Missing from Output File

ffmpeg 4.4 is not supported by HandBrake 1.3.3 Note, HandBrake ships ffmpeg statically linked in, so if your version of HandBrake is using system ffmpeg, then it's blacklisted build and shouldn't be used as it'll also be missing all our patches for ffmpeg so other functionality will also be broken r...

HandBrake does not support VAAPI.

VCN is supported but you need the native AMD drivers to use it.

Turn off "Forced only". Your source doesn't appear to contain Forced Subtitles, thus, none got rendered.

Re: Do you provide an API support or think about it

HandBrake is written in C, so you'd have to use the like so of JNI to make an interop layer for your java code. (Similar to the HandBrake.Interop C# library that the Windows UI is built on top of) Just note, the "API" is not documented. As far as I know, only 1 other app uses it. It was ne...

Re: Handbrake crashing and I can't figure out why

There is nothing in the log to indicate what the problem is. I'd suspect you've got a hardware issue here. Make sure: 1. Temperatures and voltages are within sensible limits 2. Run MemTest86+ to validate memory 3. do not overclock if using HandBrake. 4. Make sure you have the latest BIOS for the boa...

Re: Error: You must first set the destination path for the output file before adding to the queue.

The "Save As" field is for the filepath + filename for the current job, not the destination folder only where files go.

When using the Add All, or Add Selection to queue feature, it'll use auto-generated filenames for each subsequent job.

It is not however, a folder field.

Re: Trying to convert to MPEG-2

For clarity: Your log shows you did infact encode to mpeg-2. m4v/mp4 is NOT mpeg-4. mp4 is a container of video in which you can put video of different formats. Nothing HandBrake outputs can produce a DVD. You'd need DVD authoring software to take the output and convert it into the appropriate struc...

Re: Problem installing software

There is no installer.

Like many mac apps, you simply drag the app bundle into your applications folder from the dmg it comes in. Don't run it from the dmg.
You don't want an alias/shortcut to the dmg. That won't work.

Re: Total Render Time for a Project

For a queue or for a single job?

For a single job, you can see a "rough" estimate of how long it'll take after you've started it in the status bar or queue window for that job.

It's not possible to guess this, or total queue time accurately so that is not provided.

The flathub variant may work but we don't plan to formally support Ubuntu 21 until 1.4 comes out in the hopefully not so distant future.

Re: Error when encoding in VP9: Failed to initialize encoder: ABI version mismatch

It's fixed for the next release. IN the mean time, all you can do is use a development snapshot build / compile from source

Also note, the Flathub build was probably refreshed by the GTK update recently. Ergo the 2021 date.

If you have a laptop or system with both onboard Intel graphics AND Intel Discrete Graphics, then encoding tasks are split between the GPU's automatically by HandBrake if multi-instance encoding is turned on. If you don't have a multi-GPU Intel system, then it's not relevant. Note, this is only avai...

Why would you want to? Running at 100% is not a problem.

HandBrake already runs at a lower system priority to keep the system responsive should you wish to do other tasks at the same time.

Re: Any Other Alternative to Handbrake ?

You can see alternatives to HandBrake on the "AlternativeTo" site. That said, If your going from MKV to MP4 and only want to change container and not re-encode, then Handbrake is the wrong tool. You need a MP4 Muxer such as subler for this where it will do this very quickly. HandBrake is a...

Re: Not doing 2 pass encoding and subtitle issues

If you don't have 2 pass enabled on the video tab, then you are always doing 1-pass video and maybe 1 pass scanning for subtitles. The subtitle scan pass only looks for subtitles where actors are speaking a foreign language. It does not alter video quality in anyway. Having looked at your log file, ...

Re: Handbrake doesn't remember the source folder after today's packages update

Given HandBrake wasn't updated, either GTK updates introduced a bug, or introduced an incompatibility. It's not uncommon. Sometimes it's fixed in future updates, sometimes we need to make code changes for it. On the other point: ARCH AUR was historically hostile towards HandBrake, shipping modified ...

Re: Not doing 2 pass encoding and subtitle issues

Couple of quick points. 1. Forced is a type of subtitle. If your subtitles do not include forced subtitles, nothing will appear. This is correct behaviour. 2. Foreign Audio "Scan" requires an additional pass. This is NOT 2-pass encoding. 3. 2-Pass encoding can be activated on the video tab...
