Re: Handbrake crashing

Can you give a nightly build a shot and see if you still get the issue? https://handbrake.fr/nightly.php

If you do, we'll maybe need to do some trial and error encodes to narrow down what the problem is, unless you have a short sample that easily reproduces this.

Re: Convert 264 to 265 when file is already compressed

You need to go back to the original source.

You have to decode h.264 before you can re-encode it, and re-encoding will add a generation of loss unless it's a lossless encode, which as you found out already, will result in a large file.

Re: Slow QuickSync encoding on 1.1.0/1.1.2 vs 1.0.7

It's more likely down to the fact that some very different quicksync settings are being used between the two encodes. Re: Can Handbrake rip new Disney DVDs like Coco?

HandBrake does not support ripping *any* DVD's.

You'll need to use a ripper (such as MakeMKV) before using HandBrake. HandBrake is just a transcoder.

Nope. I would recommend you find playback software that supports that, rather than touching the video itself.

Re: Building 32bit version of handbrake for Windows failing

The UI won't build anyway but with regards to the CLI, I wouldn't be able to offer any advice without going myself and fixing it. Since we don't support this anymore, I'm afraid that's not going to happen.

Re: Building 32bit version of handbrake for Windows failing

The UI is defiantly a no-go as the 32bit build targets were physically removed. As for the CLI, no idea at this point. Clearly it doesn't work as it once did.

Re: Building 32bit version of handbrake for Windows failing

I'm afraid we no longer support 32bit builds. You'll need to grab the last 32bit version from the old versions download page.

Even if you did get the libraries to build, the 32bit targets are gone for other components so you can't build the full app without writing code now.

Re: can't use handbrake

This is an error coming from your system, not HandBrake. It's indicating that you have a missing or corrupted file on your system that is required by many applications to run. You could try running the .NET framework 4.7 installer to see if that helps, failing that, try using the system file checker...

Update your Intel HD Graphics drivers. They are quite substantially out of date. Older drivers are known to have issues.

Re: New i7-9700K vs i9-9900K for x265

Depends on a number of factors, it certainly won't be significantly faster going from non-hyper to hyperthreading. At best maybe 15%. At worst, it could slow down a little (but you can usually turn it off in the bios if it had a negative impact but that's more an edge case) Either way, It's not wort...

It's sufficient to delete the build directory, but if unsure, a fresh git clone won't hurt.

Re: x265 [info]: using cpu capabilities: none!

Build HandBrake from source: https://handbrake.fr/docs/en/latest/dev ... linux.html

It's not using your system x265. It's using a built-in copy.

Re: x265 [info]: using cpu capabilities: none!

We'll be updating to support it sometime in the near future. It's literally just out so we'll let it soak for a bit to make sure there isn't anything majorly wrong with it before pushing it.

Looks like a pretty small update so your not missing out on anything.

Outside of build system tweaks over the years, we haven't done anything to Theora since 2009. We haven't fixed anything with it so I'm surprised your seeing any changes. In all likely hood, there is a problem with either Kodi, or the android box simply isn't handling the codec very well. I'll most l...

We have no open bugs, and had no reports in as long as I can remember about this not working so if you have an issue, please raise a github issue and we can take a look. Fwiw, all the built in presets set sample rates, and my own personal presets set it without issue so it may be localisation or not...

Nope, afraid not. HandBrake isn't a DVD ripper, it's a transcoder. You'd want something like MakeMKV.

HandBrake does not use VLC. As it stands, there is no official support for copy protected sources in HandBrake. 3rd party software of your choosing is required.

Low disk space level is definable in preferences -> Advanced HandBrake already utilises all the Memory it needs. All the processing / buffering is already done in memory. There is no need to stream the entire file into memory. Even slow hard drives are more than fast enough to feed HandBrakes buffer...

I'm not sure but It's getting enough attention that it's higher up on my list.

Fwiw, it might be worth taking the "portable" version (zip package). It might be easier to deploy?
