Re: AMD HW Decoding?

Ah. sorry mis-read that. There are no plans to add this. Hardware decoding is problematic at the best of times. We have Intel QuickSync because we have engineers at Intel Contributing it. HandBrake is maintained by only a few developers contributing a few hours here and there. So there are a lot of ...

Re: WINDOWS 8.1

We no longer support Windows 8.1 Per the release announcement, we do not block it from running. It will simply warn you that your running in a unsupported state. Some new features are not available. Some won't work. It's completely untested on this platform. Since 1.3.3 is also now unsupported, it's...

Re: 50% (!!!) larger files generated w/ version 141?

First, your not using the Fast 720P preset as it does not use these settings. You've modified it substantially so it's not the same thing anymore. The logs confirm that you are not using the same settings. So difference in filesize is 100% correct and expected based on the settings used. Rollin is c...

You need to escape the paths when using paths with spaces in command prompt.

Can you also provide a 1.2.2 log as well please.

The performance numbers seem reasonable in you 1.4.1 log based on the settings and hardware you have.

Re: All of my outputs just say File now.

You must have accidentally removed it somehow. It's present by default with the autoname functionality and the browse button. Of course if you manually type into the box, you must add it.

Re: All of my outputs just say File now.

You removed the file extension:

"[10:54:41] + N:\Television\Smallville\Season 5\Season 5 Episode 1 Arrival"

Add .mp4 or .m4v back on (You can rename your existing files) and it'll be fine.

Re: Handbrake Blueray scan panics M1 Mac Mini

Kernel Panics are indicative of a problem at the system level, not app level. I'd wager there is something going on with the USB bus or External drive and how it interacts with macOS so this is something you'd need to report to Apple. Probably some kind of driver bug as an educated guess. Note, whil...

Re: Copyright/DVD encryuption/proection work around no longer working?

If you want to use libdvdcss, you have to support this yourself. We formally dropped support for it over a decade ago and stopped including it in HandBrake. While code still exists in a 3rd party library we use for reading dvd's (libdvdread) to load a dll file, it'll require the 64bit dll and likely...

That will be fixed in 1.4.2

You can grab a development snapshot build from: https://github.com/HandBrake/HandBrake-snapshots

That includes the fix. (Note, these install side by side with public releases. So you'll see HandBrake Nightly shortcuts)

Re: 1.4.1 downloadable for Mac or not?

Did you actually install HandBrake by copying the app to the applications folder? If your running it from within the DMG bundle file, that may explain the notice. There is no concept of offline vs online in HandBrake. It's a desktop app and no internet connection is required. The method of Installin...

Re: Handbrake Won't Start After Installing .NET 5 Desktop Runtime

Just for some clarity: - Windows builds have been digitally signed for some time now going back a few releases (years). - macOS builds are signed as well. - In-app updates have been signed for a long time also. Digitally signed downloads doesn't protect against bad downloads as the bad buys can sign...

Re: Intel Quick Sync quality dependency

The Hardware is the driving factor since the encoder is in hardware. I'd wager at this point, we won't see much improvement in H264/H265 side of things past 11th gen. I'd expect they'll have moved onto adding AV1 encoding support for future generations of hardware now. That said, we don't have insid...

Re: Windows op/sys minimum requirements for 1.4

"x86_64" is explicitly 64-bit only.

You'd need to go all the way back to 1.0.7 to get a 32bit build (labelled as i686).
Do note though, that you won't be able to encode high resolution content on a 32bit system as it'll hit the memory limit and crash out.

setting modulus under the video tab won't do anything. It's not a valid option.

There is no modulus setting. Just set whatever resolution you need for your player.

Try booting into Windows Safe mode. Launch both HandBrake and Task Manager. Does that work?

As for Drivers, Windows Update is often behind. Check in on the Nvidia / Intel sites. There is atleast newer drivers available for the K1100

Re: Handbrake 1.4.1 (2021081500) Windows 10 Blue Screens

Blue Screens would indicate a kernel level crash, not an app crash. That indicates one of 2 typical causes. - Hardware issue (Memory / Power being the most common) - Driver Issue. Where it's more a consistent crash, it's probably more likely to be the latter. The BSOD usually gives you a code / file...

Re: What filters remain 8 bit in 1.40?

It's not actively being worked on. Size of tasks generally isn't the issue. It's developer time / interest.

So, it could happen tomorrow, or it might never happen. That's the nature of open-source. This is a hobby project.
