Re: "Video Pass thru" ?

Thanks, I assumed "auto passthrough" just means "leave it the heck alone, Not Quite. It means, passthru, when supported , encode when not. The latter part is the gotcha You can set this up on the audio behaviours screens and you can see on there what passthru options are supported. I...

Re: "Video Pass thru" ?

Auto Passhthru is not gone from Audio. Audio Passthru options only show if they are available now. I.e DTS Passthru won't show on an AC3 source audio track. Previous versions did not hide incompatible options and users did not realise the fallback encoder was being used. Also note, Auto Passhtru is ...

Re: CUDA GPU use intermittent

NVEnc is actually an ASIC, not a GPU encoder. (it's on the same silicon, but the GPU is mostly idle when NVenc is in use). The ASIC is a very small portion of the code that's designed soley for video encoding. Windows still reports it as GPU usage but it's not strictly true. If you look at the break...

Re: General query about HandBrake automation

You can either user the CLI, which probably isn't all that user friendly, or you can make a suitable preset available to everyone. If you share a good preset (assuming there isn't a suitable out the box one), then it's as simple as dragging the file onto the UI, selecting the preset, set a destinati...

Re: CUDA GPU use intermittent

HandBrake does not use CUDA. NVENC != CUDA High CPU usage is normal since everything before the encode step, including all the filters, are done on the CPU. Your current setup of filters will likely heavily bottleneck the NVEnc encoder so low GPU utilisation is to be expected. Depending on the filte...

Re: NOTICE: .NET 5 Desktop Runtime Download Error ** PLEASE READ **

We unfortunately, don't control the Link either. This is determined by Microsoft. Many developers have raised this to them but they've unfortunately chosen not to fix it for .NET 6 so I'm guessing it'll be a while before they do something about it which leaves us with a crap situation.

Re: PC Restarting

Careful on stress tests, they often don't exercise parts of the CPU HandBrake uses, i.e. AVX units. That's why we get a lot of folks who overclock complaining about crashes with HandBrake but "no other app" they use. While your not overclocking, it's still something to note that it's not a...

Re: How to use LPCM audio in Handbrake - version 1.4.2.

There is no LPCM passthru, but you can passthru DTS or AC3 where the tracks are available.

LPCM will always be re-encoded.

Re: Handbrake is mark from Microsoft Edge as Unsafe Download

Smart Screen builds up reputation over time. 1.4.2 is still pretty new and obviously not a lot of people have downloaded HandBrake via edge yet so it's flagged as it's unknown. You can always verify our downloads with checksums or digital GPG signatures. https://handbrake.fr/docs/en/latest/get-handb...

Re: Will Upgrading Ram Improve Rip Speed?

Difficult to say. If your only encoding DVD's, it likely won't make much, if any difference as you'll probably have sufficient free memory.

If your encoding HD, it might help a little but encoding on that machine is always going to be painfully slow.

Re: Preview - Is still image Representative?

It's primary purpose is to allow fine adjustment of cropping.

Very few of the filters apply since many of them require a set of frames, not single frame to take effect.

Re: How to create a new preset

Just above the tabs on the main window, you'll see a "Save New Preset" button. For 1.4.2 there will also be a menu entry in the presets menu, and preset button on the toolbar. This will probably be out in the near future. Note, if you prefer a flatter preset view, that's configurable in pr...

Re: AMD HW Decoding?

Ah. sorry mis-read that. There are no plans to add this. Hardware decoding is problematic at the best of times. We have Intel QuickSync because we have engineers at Intel Contributing it. HandBrake is maintained by only a few developers contributing a few hours here and there. So there are a lot of ...

We no longer support Windows 8.1 Per the release announcement, we do not block it from running. It will simply warn you that your running in a unsupported state. Some new features are not available. Some won't work. It's completely untested on this platform. Since 1.3.3 is also now unsupported, it's...

Re: 50% (!!!) larger files generated w/ version 141?

First, your not using the Fast 720P preset as it does not use these settings. You've modified it substantially so it's not the same thing anymore. The logs confirm that you are not using the same settings. So difference in filesize is 100% correct and expected based on the settings used. Rollin is c...

Can you also provide a 1.2.2 log as well please.

The performance numbers seem reasonable in you 1.4.1 log based on the settings and hardware you have.

You must have accidentally removed it somehow. It's present by default with the autoname functionality and the browse button. Of course if you manually type into the box, you must add it.

Re: All of my outputs just say File now.

You removed the file extension:

"[10:54:41] + N:\Television\Smallville\Season 5\Season 5 Episode 1 Arrival"

Add .mp4 or .m4v back on (You can rename your existing files) and it'll be fine.
