Re: Failures using NVENC in current version of HandBrake

Just note, the quality scale between NVENC and x264 H.264 encoders is not the same. You'll need to adjust quality slider to optimise your output.

That said, generally, hardware encoders trade speed for efficiency, so file sizes will generally be larger at a perceptible quality level.

Re: Sudden update in Handbrake

Handbrake's own updates does indeed requires multiple user integrations to update however if the user is using 3rd party software to manage/update software then it's possible it updated it transparently. Either way, The Social presets are the replacements. If the output filesize is too high, reduce ...

Re: Failures using NVENC in current version of HandBrake

Can you please explain this one? Are you saying that the ARC card won't work properly with my 4th gen processor? It should work, however, without this feature on your motherboard, it'll very likely take a performance hit. I don't have any data to say how much QuickSync specifically is impacted by t...

Re: Failures using NVENC in current version of HandBrake

On that CPU, there won't be any PCI-E Resizable BAR which can hurt ARC performance a fair so while I might otherwise agree QuickSync is a better option, I'm not sure I'd risk running an ARC no a 4th gen board.

Re: Failures using NVENC in current version of HandBrake

Welcome to Nvidia's mess of a lineup.

Looks like GDDR6 is not a surefire way to tell as they have a Desktop/Mobile variant of the chip that I guess made it into some cards.

Re: Failures using NVENC in current version of HandBrake

Sorry, I see your first log was for 10bit H265 which I'm pretty sure your current card doesn't support. Your second log was 1.7.3 which won't work. Good to know that you had success with 1.6. If your happy with that, stick with it. Certain 1650 cards have the newer NVEnc engine and B-Frame support i...

Re: Failures using NVENC in current version of HandBrake

Driver is too old for 1.6.1 to work. Officially, we've never supported the 7-series GPUs from Nvidia although they were reported as working by some in versions that pre-date 1.6 so maybe 1.5.x or 1.4.x might work They are however garbage for encoding so I'd be inclined to return and try target a 10-...

Re: .Net or similar API?

mduell, Windows UI has been using hb.dll for years. It has no CLI involvement. Works exactly the same as vidcoder as it's using the same C# wrapper code that is maintained out of our repos.

Re: .Net or similar API?

There is no formal API but the Windows UI is C# .NET and it wraps the native hb.dll so you could hack something around that. Noting that it's not treated as an API so the code could wildly change between versions :)

Re: Last version of Handbrake compatible with Intel Graphics 21.20?

We don't have a record of the exact drivers for each version so you'll have to figure that out for yourself. None of these versions are supported anymore so I'm afraid your on your own with this. Woodstock has narrowed it down to 4 versions for you. 1.0.x 1.1.x 1.2.x and 1.3.x Try the latest and wor...

Re: Doesn't Handbrake cut frame accurately any more?

HandBrake has never guaranteed frame accuracy when cutting so it'll be not in many cases. It's not really the write tool for the job if you need frame accurate cutting.

Re: Handbrake hogs up bluetooth ressource

So i can agree with "side-effect" but i really would like to fix it. It's not something you can fix, by altering Handbrake's code since that's not the root of the problem. As I check, check the power management settings. If your saving to a network drive and using Wifi, avoid doing that. ...

Re: Handbrake hogs up bluetooth ressource

HandBrake doesn't use Bluetooth and doesn't interact with the Bluetooth radio in any way so whatever is happening, is a side effect of something else happening on your system at the same time. Some Bluetooth devices will have an option in device manager to prevent low power states. You can check to ...

VCN is not supported in the flatpak builds at present. You'd have to compile from source if you wanted to use that feature.

Re: Handbrake doesn't use Nvenc anymore

Nvidia doesn't seem to provide a driver new enough for the GT-710 so I'm afraid your outa luck on this one. You'd have to use an older, unsupported version of HandBrake for it to work. Probably 1.6 or 1.5

HandBrake in docker is 3rd party. Watch folder functionality is not part of HandBrake itself so you'd need to ask the upstream project

Re: Handbrake Stopped Working Reliably

Id note also that taming a 14900k can be hard. Especially on motherboards that have high power limits and high time limits for the higher power states

Even with water cooling don’t be surprised to see spikes of 100c. It’s designed to run as hard as possible. Efficiency be damned.
