Re: Filters error in Yosemite

Revert back to 1.1.2

Turns out, 1.2 actually needs 10.11 or later I'm afraid.

Re: NVidia NVENC encoder with Handbrake CLI

Normally I'd say try without QSV Decode, but I don't think your CPU has enough grunt to outperform it. It's an unbalanced system for this kind of work.
Network encoding isn't the best of ideas generally. Better to work locally and copy when done.

Are you still running the filter?

Re: NVidia NVENC encoder with Handbrake CLI

CPU usage is in the Filters, Audio Encoding, A/V Sync etc. This is normal.

I'd say your CPU is actually bottle necking you here. If you don't need the filters, turn them off to release some more potential.

I'm not aware of any Purple reel icon existing. Do you know of an example of where this exists?

Re: Or Drop A File or Folder Here

Sounds like you've got another app running that's interfering with the desktop in some way. Have a look for any game capture, screen capture / system motioning apps or anything in the task tray that's not needed. The functionality hasn't changed so it should work fine whenever you suss out the app. ...

Interesting, begs the question how it's getting into amfrt64.dll still

The whole point in my change was to prevent that :/

Re: I cannot even open Handbrake for the first time

I've made some changes to the GUI startup. It'll try a hardware probe when initialising. If that fails, it will attempt to switch into a fallback mode automatically. When the next nightly is available, can folks give this a shot and see if it helps. Failing that, I'll add a mode that allows users to...

Before and After logs for the same source would be interesting.
Also note, use a nightly since we've resolved the issue with the driver changes that broke h265 encoder.

Re: Force use the external gpu instead of the T2 chip ?

You can't.

If you grab a nightly build, it should encode fine on the T2. https://handbrake.fr/nightly.php

We don't have any real data yet on the T2, but I'd hope it could do better than the AMD part.

Re: Why has the advanced tab been removed completely?

This thread has outlived its usefulness. Re-hashing the discussion multiple times changes nothing. To summarise before closing. - Choose an appropriate encoder preset on the video tab. (Ideally the slowest you can tolerate but somewhere around Fast/Medium is typically fine) - Chose a tune if availab...

Settings are part of the preset system.

Once you have a set of settings you want, save it as a preset, set it as default.

Re: Encoding struggles after 2-3 seconds or stalls

This is about the expected performance for that machine. Your running an Low Power, 2 Core CPU putting though very large 4K content though one of the most complex encoders. You might get another 10~20% improvement turning off interlace detection and deinterlace on the filters tab. It's unlikely to b...

Unfortunately, it's a generic error for something on your system is broken. 1. Make sure your running the latest drivers, particularly for graphics cards. 2. Make sure all other applications are closed (and nothing running in the background). Rivatuner, monitoring software etc have been known to cau...

1 Pass for a subtitle scan, 1 pass for video. (It wasn't a 2-pass encode).

You can turn off the foreign audio scan via the subtitle tab and it's configuration pane since it' didn't do anything anyway.

Re: Advanced Preset Incompatibility

You can paste in the old options string yes, but there is little point. The x264 preset system is highly optimised. The chances of getting any meaningful gains beyond that are not high. Also, since the defaults have greatly changed, it could well invalidate your settings anyway or make them sub-opti...

Only in the sense that it's doing some additional frame analysis. It's not recognisable as 2-pass in the sense that software encoders do it. Depending on the encode, can actually result in minimal or worse results.
