Re: H264 Intel Quick sync video

Nope.

It’s only a basic cpu only software encoder for development purposes. You’ve obviously got the development libraries installed for this to happen. There is no hardware acceleration here.

There is no point in using it if your not a developer so just disable it in preferences.

Re: Ryzen 3900x performance issue

Your using Placebo preset a lot in there. Not a good idea. You probably don't need to go past "Slow". Probably quite a bit faster with no real human noticeable difference. In the case of x265, some versions actually produce worse results using placebo Also note, x265 is orders of magnitude slower th...

Re: Ryzen 3900x performance issue

That log is for h.265 Your also not running any filters. CPU scaling varies wildly depending on source, settings and hardware chosen. So, what your seeing is perfectly normal. HandBrake will always try use as much as possible for a given input, but in some instances, there are bottlenecks. That's ju...

Re: Vega hardware acceleration not working

You have to choose which encoder you want on the Video Tab. There are multiple H.264 and H.265(HEVC) encoders. By default, HandBrake will always use software encoders such as x264 and x265. If you want to use the VCE encoder, you have to select that option. The Preference is there to disable hardwar...

Re: I can not find the app on my pc

I'm pretty sure your running the uninstaller right after the installer. There's a bit of a glitch in the 1.2.2 installer if your not careful. When the installer starts, it prompts you to uninstall the current version. If you click away, you may not notice the prompt hiding behind a window. Thus, you...

Uninstall from Settings,

Install fresh copy.

Sounds like the install didn't get a chance to complete.

Re: Can not open avi, no valid source found

security systems are unfortunately notorious for producing non-standard or just crap files. HandBrake often can't process these.
Your files 720P so HandBrake GUI wouldn't allow you to upscale it to 1080p anyway.

Re: handBrake kills battery time on Macbook Pro i7

Would be interesting to see what the delta is. It should favour quicksync but with filters/decode still on cpu, it can still hit the CPU pretty hard. Infact, if the scheduler works well, you may find higher boost clocks (less power efficient and higher heat output) which counters some of the savings.

Re: handBrake kills battery time on Macbook Pro i7

This is Normal. Advertised Battery life on Laptops is for light usage only. (Web Browsing, Email, Music, Video playback etc). Under sustained high load (Video encoding, games, rendering etc), it rarely goes above 1~2 hours. Your laptop will be using around 40~50Watts of power when under high load. Y...

Re: Using NVIDEA GPU to speed up conversion

Nothing you can do to fix this. the MX130 doesn't actually support the hardware encode engine since it's a low-end part. The 8550U does however have QuickSync support, so if it's enabled in Preferences -> Video you'll see a H.264 and H.265 (Quicksync) option in the Video encoder dropdown on the vide...

Re: x265_10bit ignores encoder-level setting

encoder level is not available for x265 in 1.2.2. Even if you use a nightly and set a level, it's a limiter, not a set feature. So you may still get below this depending on the encoded content. This isn't an issue. Also, there is no main10@high profile for x265, these are your available profile choi...

Re: Handbrake filling up C drive while scanning files

HandBrake uses the Windows TEMP folder to cache preview data, which, given it's uncompressed can use the levels of storage your talking about quite easily. Assuming it doesn't crash, or something else on the system gets a file handle to those files (AV software for example), they will be cleared up ...

Re: How to get the full options Handbrakes uses to encode a DVD ?

Since the GUI doesn't use HandBrakeCLI, no query is ever generated. HandBrakeCLI --help will give you the list of available options. The options you list above are x264 encoder options which can be copied to the CLI as an input argument if you then translate all the HandBrake options listed in the l...
