Re: Handbrake versus MKV and quality issues
Under Picture Settings under the filters tab Deinterlace is off. Then where it says deinterlace and decomb - decomb is chosen and then says off. It's pixelated and has streaks of colored pixels up and down the screen. You can hear the audio but not see the picture. I just used MakeMKV for different ...

Handbrake versus MKV and quality issues
I have historically used Handbrake (latest version installed is 0.9.9) on my MacBook for years to convert my DVD's to MP4's. I absolutely LOVE this program and it has helped me add my entire DVD library (over 1500 DVD's) to a hard drive that I can then stream them on my Apple TV. I recently bought a...

Re: Handbrake crashing on new iMac when trying to decode
I downloaded MakeMKV and it is now working when I run it through that software first. Thank you so much for your help!

Re: Handbrake crashing on new iMac when trying to decode
That is very good information. May I ask, if I download MakeMKV how does it work in conjunction with Handbrake? Do I run the disc through it first and then Handbrake it? Also on one of the DVD's where this problem was occuring - once I ran it without choosing "Foreign Audio Search" this ti...

Handbrake crashing on new iMac when trying to decode
I just installed Handbrake on my new iMac. I have used it for years on both my Macbook and Macbook Pro. Since the new computer I have been able to get 2 of my discs to work. However, I am unable to now. The version I am using is 0.10.0x86_64. My iMac is running OS X Yosemite 10.10.1. I would include...

Re: Handbrake crashing on my new MacBook Pro
I understand that it's not a ripper. That's not what I'm trying to do. I own all of the DVD's I handbrake. The problem isn't ripping. I could handbrake this EXACT same DVD on my other computer (using Handbrake) with no problem. It seems to be something else amiss. Just looking for a little insight. ...

Re: Handbrake crashing on my new MacBook Pro
Well I thought it was fixed but now when I try to encode (?is that the right terminology?) a DVD (I've tried on numerous) Handbrake is now saying that it's completed but it's not done. The mp4 is only a few minutes long and it's not viewable. Specifically it has color squares running up and down the...

Handbrake crashing on my new MacBook Pro
I have been using Handbrake for years on my old MacBook. I have now transitioned to a MacBook Pro. However, since I have installed Handbrake onto my "new" computer it has not worked. Today I deleted and re-installed Handbrake to make sure that wasn't an issue. I also have been searching th...

Re: Subtitles on DVD but not going on MP4
That worked beautifully! Thank you so much! Your help is greatly appreciated.
No forced packets, and the correct track is…just above the threshold (1679 / 10 = 167). You want the 2nd English track (4th subtitle track overall), Burned In checked, and Forced Only UNCHECKED.

Re: Subtitles on DVD but not going on MP4
Thank you for your replys. It is very much appreciated. The specific movie I am working on right now is called Eastern Promises. There are a few scenes with Russian. If possible I'd rather not have the entire movie with closed captions showing. I have found with all my other movies (i.e. Game of Thr...

Re: Subtitles on DVD but not going on MP4
Okay I tried doing as suggested however, it did not work. Does anyone else have any ideas? I can make it have all the words closed captioned but I don't want it to. I just need the words that are not in English...

Subtitles on DVD but not going on MP4
Hello there. I searched and could not find an answer to this. Sorry if it's already out there. I feel as though I've done my due dilegence (although many smarter minds than mine are on this forum). I am trying to get subtitles to show up on my MP4. BUT I don't want the entire thing with subtitles. I...

Problems HandBraking P90X2
I am having problems HandBraking my new P90X2. I have been pressing the "alt" button in order to scan only the title that I am wanting to encode (I think that's the term). Which works...eventually. The program gets all the way through, shows that "Pas 1 of 1, 100%" but then sits ...

2012 DVD not encoding
I am trying to put my DVD "2012" onto my external hard drive in MP4 format to then be played on my PS3. When I choose the source I use the alt/option key in order to choose only the main title. Then I press "start" to begin the encoding process. In about 5 seconds I get the messa...

Re: Crashes while loading Mission Impossible 4
I tried to do this but it isn't working for me. It starts to transcode but then crashes. I think it's just that the disc is new and has some new form of copyright protection.

Using Handbrake on my Mac to convert so I can play on my PS3
I am new to HandBrake so please bare with me. I've been using a combination of Mac the Ripper and Popcorn for years now. I have now found HandBrake and from what I understand it is quite superior. Here is my goal: To take all of my DVD's and "rip" (I am using the right term?) them to whate...
