Re: x264 tune - increase in file size?

Yes, that's the log of my 2nd encode after I realised it was the film tune that was increasing the file size.

Rodeo - surely increasing the RF will eliminate any gain from choosing film tune in the 1st place?

Re: x264 tune - increase in file size?

Ah apologies - didn't realise there was a "code" marker. Oh, so it doesn't necessarily reduce filesize... So with 0.9.8 - what setting would High Profile have used by default? Presumably "medium" x264 preset and "none" x264 tune? I only ask as my output filesizes seem t...

x264 tune - increase in file size?

Seems that setting the x264 tune to "film" for a bluray seems to increase the resultant file size by somewhere approaching 10%.... I thought using a x264 tune was supposed to increase encoding efficiency? Metadata: title : Iron Man 2 Duration: 02:04:39.16, start: 0.000000, bitrate: N/A Cha...

Re: *** AppleTV 3 and the New iPad (Presets) ***

Hmmm, just tried encoding a film using strict with zero cropping and it's come out identical to when I used none and zero cropping.

There appears to be no difference between strict and none if you ensure the resolution is set to 1920x1080 and cropping is set to 0??

Re: *** AppleTV 3 and the New iPad (Presets) ***

So what's the difference between that and just setting anamorphic to "none"? Surely there's no point using strict when you don't want anamorphic at all?

I'd rather always leave cropping at 0 and not have to guess which films need it or not!

Re: *** AppleTV 3 and the New iPad (Presets) ***

Surely anamorphic should be set to "none" for Blurays with the 0 cropping and the resolution set to 1920x1080?

Re: *** AppleTV 3 and the New iPad (Presets) ***

What video size settings are people using for Blurays? I've always set anamorphic to "none" and manually set all cropping to 0 and the resolution to 1920x1080 (keep aspect ratio ticked). It usually tries to make it 1920x1088 but I simply change that to 1080. Is this the ideal setting for a...
