Re: Dropping from 60p to 30p with Handbrake
I understand your comments, and i agree with you, which is why i contacted the Moderator just to clarify my position in regards to VRD, and he seemed fine with what i was trying to do, especially in my topic from 3 months ago. I never criticize any software especially in an online forum such as this...

Re: Dropping from 60p to 30p with Handbrake
Thank you Sir, so my Alternate editing tool is VRD Pro, it handles editing and conversions of 90% of the files that i work with, one exception to mind are those 4k/50p HEVC MPEG-TS files which they are still working on. Handbrake has always been my Go To alternative for converting my files to my req...

Re: Dropping from 60p to 30p with Handbrake
Yes the Handbrake one is jerky, it jerks from one frame to the next, but even if those 2 GoPro files were shot at 30p rather than 60p they would not have been that jerky, i know that from experience when using this camera at various framerates in panning scenes. @ musicvid your output had a couple o...

Re: Dropping from 60p to 30p with Handbrake
It's not your fault that your experiment file does not suit me or my player, it is what it is, and i also understand that it is also not the fault of Handbrake either. As i previously mentioned, my Alternate software developers have seemingly managed to add a feature to it's encoder in such a way th...

Re: Dropping from 60p to 30p with Handbrake
@ musicvid Actually i just played that file of yours again several times, and i should explain my findings in a better way than i did in my previous post, as it is somewhat different to the way the Handbrake version plays, which is just plain jerky from start to end. There are a few moments of mild...

Re: Dropping from 60p to 30p with Handbrake
@ musicvid I downloaded that file you posted, and it was horrible to playback, as soon as i launched it, the Audio was squeeling quite badly all the way thru, and in places the video seemed quite smooth, but in many parts it just fell apart, with very mild to heavy jerkiness (jittering) going on. I...

Re: Dropping from 60p to 30p with Handbrake
@ musicvid I should have posted the following link in my previous post, just so you could compare the Handbrake output to this one where i used my Alternate software. Re: Dropping from 60p to 30p with Handbrake
Thanks a lot John, i shall await for any new developments that you might come up with. Remember, i don't usually convert video files to lower framerates, i was more curious as to what was happening with Handbrake because i was getting this jerkiness. When i try to recode a file by doubling the sourc...

Re: Dropping from 60p to 30p with Handbrake
Hi, i just tried it again with the Interlace Detection left on Default and Deinterlace mode turned Off rather than the default of Decomb, and it is still jerky
I tried with Interlace detection turned off as well and it is still jerky.
Cheers

You should be able to play the 3 files from the links if you don't want to download them, they are only small files.

Re: Dropping from 60p to 30p with Handbrake
I replicated the output and have included the Log File download link below, along with the download links below for the source file, plus the output from Handbrake and the other output using the other software that i used. And it was a 1080 file not a 4k, i just get used to typing 4k because that is...

Re: Dropping from 60p to 30p with Handbrake
The 4k/60p file from the camera was very smooth, but i know from experience with the GoPro that if i shot the same video at 30p there would have been some jerkiness in that file because of the panning. I was just surprised at how much difference there was between Handbrakes 30p output and the output...

Dropping from 60p to 30p with Handbrake
Hi everyone, i have been messing about with Handbrake lately with joining various files together which have different framerates and bitrates. Today i decided to test Handbrake see how it goes when dropping a 4k/60p AVC file to 4k/30p AVC as i had done this using another program and the output file ...

Re: Joining Multiple files with different Framerates
I have just recoded a 1080/29.970 file to 1080/50p and it seems to play fine, the same as i recoded a 1080/50p to 1080/29.97 and that seems to play fine as well, although one would never drop from a high framerate to a much lower one without a good reason, and i never shoot any video at lower than 5...

Re: Joining Multiple files with different Framerates
Hi, thanks for that, is it ok to go from 29.97 to say 50p and drop the 59.94 file to 50p as well, or is it best to output all files at the lowest framerate out of the group i mentioned.
What non linear editor did you have in mind, or am i not allowed to ask.
Cheers

Joining Multiple files with different Framerates
Hi, i have several 1080p video files that i really would like to join together, however they are shot in 3 different framerates. I have 3 @ 1080/50p - 4 @ 1080/59.94p - 5 @ 1080/29.97p and all have a bitrate of between 8.0 and 11.0 Mb/s I have joined files together before using other software, but t...

Re: Converting 4k/50p 10 BIT HEVC MPEG-TS 4:2:2

Re: Converting 4k/50p 10 BIT HEVC MPEG-TS 4:2:2
I also meant to ask why we can't edit our posts once posted to the board, sometimes i may type something that i need to change, or need to add more content. The reason for having to recode my 4k/60p HEVC GoPro files to 4k/60p AVC in Handbrake prior to editing is because VRD will not convert my edite...

I thought we were meant to avoid talking about VRD ?
I was going to post the Topic link but thought it best not to, you can find it easily by going to the VRD forum and head to the Pro forum.

Re: Converting 4k/50p 10 BIT HEVC MPEG-TS 4:2:2
I already created a discussion topic in the VRD forum (VRD Pro section) some time ago using that 4k/50p HEVC MPEG-TS sample file (and others) which others attempted to convert, with poor success in most cases, and the results for me and others who tried still remain unresolved. Look for a Topic titl...

Re: Converting 4k/50p 10 BIT HEVC MPEG-TS 4:2:2
It was not my intention to get involved in discussions about other softwares, so i apologize for side tracking this topic like i did, all i want is to understand a bit more about how Handbrake works and which output presets and quality factors i should use in certain scenarios. I won't be raising an...

Re: Converting 4k/50p 10 BIT HEVC MPEG-TS 4:2:2
@ musicvid ............. thanks for your post regarding VRD Pro version 6 (beta 809b) yes i am updating to every beta version as they are released, and this new version 6 is still plagued with many bugs that the Developers just don't seem interested in fixing, heck some of us have been posting new ...
