Re: Audio sync issue converting bluray

You need a nightly build: https://handbrake.fr/nightly.php

Re: Can't override previous settings

Difficult to say without following your workflow exactly. There is an "add foreign language search" or similar in the Edit Defaults that should be selected.

Re: Can't override previous settings

So the only way that I can now get all the files in a directory to work is to add them one-by-one after setting the subtitle for each. Or, you can modify the Selection Behavior to produce the result you want, and save that as a custom preset. Then you can select the preset and add all titles to the...

Re: Handbrake cannot open MP4 h264 source ?

It would be great to get a small sample from the camera. Just a few seconds should be enough for further analysis. Thanks.

Re: Can't override previous settings

When adding multiple items to the queue, the settings saved in the preset are what are used.

Note that in the nightly build we changed the control labeled Configure Defaults to Selection Behavior for clarity.

Re: Incorrect Aspect Ratio

The math is actually pretty simple. Divide the storage height by the denominator (second number) of your intended aspect and multiply by the numerator (first number). So, for anamorphic video stored as 720x576 (PAL DVD), 576/3*4 == 768 display width for 4:3, or 576/9*16 == 1024 display width for 16:...

Re: UHD HDR: no compatibility of HandBrake encode, muxing issue?

I noticed a very subtle difference, min-keyint=24 / keyint=240 versus min-keyint=23 / keyint=250 for Hybrid. Also, the Hybrid video track appears to be marked Forced.

Re: --arate auto CLI default behaviour

Fixed on master branch: https://github.com/HandBrake/HandBrake/ ... da4afeb4f3
https://github.com/HandBrake/HandBrake/ ... e2b06d64ec

It seems auto was still valid, but triggered that useless warning since 1.0.0.

Re: Removing X seconds of video at beginning and end... in bulk

Ah, I missed beginning and end. Another way to do it would be to parse the duration in the script and act on it. Yet another would be to use an intermediate lossless file, do the beginning cut first and and cut on the intermediate.

Re: --arate auto CLI default behaviour

The default behavior is to use whatever is set in the preset, which should be Auto for the default CLI preset and most/all of the official presets.

We should probably look at making --arate auto a valid setting.

Unless I'm mistaken, I think --stop-at is not required when using --start-at.

Re: Can I just ADD a subtitle without changing movie's size/quality?

No, you want a (re)muxer such as mkvmerge or the MKVToolNix GUI. For MP4, Subler on Mac is nice.

HandBrake is a transcoding tool; it always reencodes video.

Re: Incorrect Aspect Ratio

You can do that.

I may have misread your intentions initially; you'll want a display width of around 768 to create 4:3 aspect.

Re: Incorrect Aspect Ratio

DVD recorders are known to produce mastering errors like this. You should be able to correct the aspect using custom anamorphic with a display width of around 1024.

It's not entirely clear what you're asking. We have no immediate plans to include multilib by default in the very near future. Likewise, we have no immediate plans for QSV on the Mac platform in the very near future.

Re: Preview Function takes 2-3 minutes to show selected video

Probably related to Foreign Audio Scan, which looks for subtitles in a language other than the main audio. It requires reading the entire source, so if you're working with multi-gigabyte files that could be it. We're considering ways to improve this behavior, but for now you can speed up preview enc...

Re: Handbrake 1.0.7 hangs on QSV encoding

Since it's more of a workaround than a true fix, I'd rather not commit that. I realize the irony of leaving it broken, but it is an unsupported configuration at this point. For the most part, disabling asm opts in Libav means decoding may be slower. Not as much of an impact as say, disabling asm for...

Re: Handbrake 1.0.7 hangs on QSV encoding

Okay, so this is definitely an issue with i686 and the nightly. In short, it's running out of registers on i686 in one of the SSE optimizations for the AC3 codec. For whatever reason, Libav thinks it has enough registers to compile that part of code, when it appears to not, and -fomit-frame-pointer ...

Re: Error: Your destination disk is almost full

Those aren't actually errors, just HandBrake deciding whether your source is a BD, DVD, etc.

The nightly build allows you to adjust or disable the storage warning.
