[5825] QS doesn't work on Windows 8 with dGPU output
Hello, I tried to make use of Handbrake's QS implementation but I failed. The problem is that Handbrake doesn't let me select the QS encoder (doesn't appear in the list). Though QS encoding can be used with MediaCoder/Afterburner as long as I select D3D11 to access it. QS decoding also works with LA...

A bit OT: What about interlaced VC-1 support?
It's still not there.

Re: Odd FLAC Encode?
It's not a Handbrake issue but just in case you are interested though: It is a limitation of the FLAC encoder on Windows, it can't get along with source files bigger than 4 GB: http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?s=&showtopic=84014&view=findpost&p=725304 My guess is that it als...

Re: Odd FLAC Encode?
Edit: long gone, as in, 5 years ago FLAC 1.1.3 (27-Nov-2006) […] Large file (>2GB) support everywhere I can't create FLAC files above 2 GB, using FLAC 1.2.1b with Foobar2000, it always stops after file has reached 2 GB. I've created a topic about it at Hyrogenaudio, I'm curious about the replies: h...

Re: Odd FLAC Encode?
The Windows version of original FLAC encoder can't create files that are bigger than 2 GB.Rodeo wrote: There's no 2 GB limit that I know of.
I don't know how it looks with other encoders.
But with 16bit depth this size hardly can be exceeded, I guess.

Re: Odd FLAC Encode?
Handbrake FLAC drops 24bit audio, output is just 16bit. Is this intended?
I don't think it makes much sense to use a lossless codec but result is still lossy in some way.
What about the 2 GB size limit of the Windows FLAC encoder?
Is it present in the Windows version of Handbrake?

Vorbis passthru?
Hello, in the Windows GUI there's no Vorbis passthru feature and I couldn't find any information about it anywhere else. So, I suggest it as a feature. :) Isn't it technically a simple issue? Edit: For every other audio codec there's the possibility to avoid lossy re-encoding, but not for Vorbis. :(...

Re: 500kbit for Vorbis audio
No idea. Maybe someone else has experience with APE. It supports only 2 channel audio or below :( : http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=Lossless_comparison#APE_cons I did some testings and I found APE only slightly better compressing than FLAC with level 8 compression and exhaustive model...

Re: 500kbit for Vorbis audio
Nice.
I'm using Windows, that's why I didn't know that.
OT: What do you think of APE/Monkey Audio compared to FLAC?
I could never compare it because encoding 5.1 audio to APE always failed with every program. Does it even support 5.1 audio?
Is compression better than with FLAC?

Re: 500kbit for Vorbis audio
We did rather extensive testing of the usable bitrate for every encoder. We found that setting higher bitrates in vorbis resulted in output streams that did not use the full bitrate that was asked for. I.e. choosing 500kbps resulted in output of ~384kbps. I can confirm this with MediaCoder. :( But ...

500kbit for Vorbis audio
Hello,
Handbrake GUI offers only 384kbit Vorbis audio - but the codec supports up to 500kbit, e.g. MediaCoder can encode with this bitrate.
Could you please also add modes up to 500kbit?
Maybe just a little command line change is needed?

Re: First frames of a determined timeframe are distorted BD
Uhm, so can you explain to me how the general procedure of implementing a bugfix is after a fix has been submitted?
I'm just asking for interest's sake, no haste.
I couldn't read it anywhere.
Thank you.
