iPad and iPhone stream to ATV4
Which preset would be best to use for an iPad Air or iPhone 6s when streaming to an Apple TV4? Normally I would use the ATV3 preset when streaming from my Mac to an ATV4... but what about when streaming from these iOS devices to the Apple TV4? - Can these devices handle streaming those larger files ...

Apple TV3 Decomb on or off
I see the Apple TV3 preset has Decomb turned on by default. For DVD's made in the last few years, is this necessary to leave on? Why does the Apple TV 2 preset not have it on as a default setting like the ATV3? I know leaving it off speeds up conversions... and I would rather it not do any kind of s...

Re: BluRay - ATV3 & iPad Air
Thanks for the good info - what are your thoughts about the other tweaks to the ATV3 preset? - changing the preset's loose to strict anamorphic. What does that even do?
Any tweaks for converting blu-rays to iPads for playback on iPad Air or Retina Mini?
Thanks so much!

Re: BluRay - ATV3 & iPad Air
I know the ATV3 is for the ATV3 - but there are always a few recommended tweaks beyond the preset. Any comments on the anamorphic setting set to strict and web streaming...? - are any current, newly released BluRay's not interlaced?

MacPro 2013 CPU and heat
Anyone here using a recent MacPro 2013 with Handbrake. I use iStat Menus and it shows the temperature goes to 140 degrees and the computer is quite hot. The processor is at 100% too. this is a 3.5Ghz 6 core computer. Is it safe to use this? I would think so since it's made for apps like Final Cut X,...

BluRay - ATV3 & iPad Air
Hi, #1 - What do you think are the best settings for ripping a BluRay for the ATV3. I read in other forums to use the stock ATV3 preset from the nightly build, then turn on Web Optimized to speed up start/load times and set anamorphic to strict. Can someone explain the difference Strict vs. the Pres...

Re: *** AppleTV 3 and the New iPad (Presets) ***
So after reading these 4 pages at this point it seems that the following would yield great results with BluRay MKV source and 1080P output for the ATV3 or iPAD3: High Profile RF20 Detelecine and Decomb OFF Mod8 Anamorphic - NONE Cropping - Automatic Any downside to choosing Mod8 instead of 16? Any r...

What is the absolute best quality rip using handbrake suitable for the ATV2? - I don't care how large the files get. I've used the ATV2 preset from the nightly builds. The rip looks decent but I would like to have a preset that is 'as good as possible' without regard to encode time or file size. It ...

Apple TV2 Best Quality - ATV2
Hi, I ran the ATVFlash software on my ATV2 so I could now stream full size DVD Rips using MDRP or Ripit. My system is all gigabit ethernet. I noticed the picture looks good but a bit fuzzy/jerky at times. The author of ATVFlash said that the ATV2 can stream these large full size ripped files. Obviou...

Re: ATV & iPAD2 settings
Which preset did you start with, then add these tweaks?
How do I add the 'film' tune - couldn't quite understand the link you gave me.
Can you just post your entire string and what Preset you started with?
Looks good on both iPad2 & Apple TV2? - Nice.
Thanks!

Re: ATV & iPAD2 settings
What does that string do for the encode, picture quality or file size or encoding speed?
Also - I thought the iPad2 frame size was 1280x720 so why would I want to use a smaller maximum frame size?
Thanks so much for your assistance!
Sam

Re: ATV & iPAD2 settings
OK - but are there any tweaks you would do to the Apple TV 2 preset?
Do you agree that using the ATV2 preset is a good way to make videos for both iPad2 & ATV2? - or if my target is mostly the iPad2 or laptop screen - use iPad2 preset?

ATV & iPAD2 settings
I've read many posts about people suggesting to use the Apple TV2 preset as a good all around setting for both the ATV2 and iPad2. There used to be some additional tweaks to these that helped quite a bit. ref=3:mixed-refs=1:bframes=3:me=hex:subq=7:b-adapt=2:8x8dct=1:weightb=0:trellis=0 62%CRF Detele...

Best Apple TV settings
Back in July these settings were the recommended tweaks for getting a great conversion for the Apple TV from TV or Movie DVD's. Start with the Apple TV preset - then go to advanced - Paste in: ref=3:mixed-refs=1:bframes=3:me=umh:subq=7:b-adapt=2:8x8dct=1 62.25% CRF Detelcine - on - default setting D...

Re: Best format for Mac
I understand. It's just that when searching around for optimal Apple TV settings, I had found several posts with good ideas and updated/modified advanced strings that look better than the presets. I'm guessing that with a screen as small as the iphone, the presets will work just great. But the quest...

Are there any advanced settings you like for the iPhone or Apple Universal preset?
For the ATV - I use 62%, Decomb and Detelecine on - default. - Should I use these for the iPhone & Universal presets as well?
Thanks!

Re: Finest Rip
Quick question -
Using the Dev snapshot - when setting the constant quality to 62 - do you prefer 62.25 or 61.76?
In this version, you can't just select 62 even.
Thanks,
Sam

Re: Apple TV Constant Quality
I watch the Apple TV on a 56" and 61" DLP HDTV. Does this make a difference?
I'm not converting stuff like Pixar, etc. - just your basic recent release DVD's.
Still stay at 59% or would it be better to bump it to 60 or 61%?
Thanks!

Apple TV Constant Quality
With the new version, I see that the Apple TV preset uses constant quality. With this setting, you don't need 2 pass encoding? Also - the preset is set at 59%. Is there any benefit of moving this to 60-62%? I've read in other posts people moving it as high as 62%. I'm encoding regular DVD's for my A...
