Re: HandBrake 0.10.0 Discussion Thread

Is there any indication when Linux support for QSV might be available? Its my number 1 most wanted feature :) I've got an i7-4750HQ that I would love to see QSV support for. Thanks devs for an amazing app!

Re: H.265

Ah, yeah RL can have a big impact on your priorities. I really hope that the team attracts as much talent as it may lose though - it is, after all, pretty much the gold standard (especially on linux).

H.265

I googled and forum searched but didn't find anything relevant.

Are there any plans for h.265 in handbrake. I'm guessing that would be tied to the x.264 guys adopting it. Do you know if they intend to? Or do you (handbrake staff) have a desire to incorporate it?

Re: AAC Encoding

Wow, that's awesome. I've read a bunch about people wanting to somehow get nero into handbrake (which didn't sound like it was ever going to happen) and about Mac getting coreaudio (because of that patch and that coreaudio is part of the OS) but until now it sounded like faac was the only thing the ...

Re: AAC Encoding

Cool, thanks for the info. Can I assume ffmpeg aac is being developed? I've read that faac stopped development years ago; it'd be nice to have an encoder that would improve with time.

Re: AAC Encoding

Thanks Rodeo! Would you recommend using it? Or should I stick with faac, or does it simply not matter at this point?

AAC Encoding

I've been on windows for awhile and just recently switched to OpenSUSE 11.4. I don't know if it is unique to linux or just a new feature as per the nightly build I installed but I was wondering about ffmpeg aac. Specifically how it compares to faac and (if possible) how it does against nero and appl...

Re: DVD series with "Play All" and Handbrake question

Rip your DVD to hard drive, use dvd shrink to re-author it with the first title only and backup. Then repeat with the second, third, and fourth titles all to different folders or they will overwrite eachother. Suggestion My Documents\DVD Shrink 1, My Documents\DVD Shrink 2, My Documents\DVD Shrink 3...

Re: Playing m4v with "Soft Subtitles" in iTunes

Yeah, occasionally I have the same problem. I have an ipod touch 4th gen which plays subs fine, every media player (vlc, mpc, potplayer, mplayer, etc...) plays the subs but not itunes. It's wierd and obviously an itunes bug but I don't care as long as it synchs to my ipod.

Re: Please Help!

Thanks for the advice, that's probably what I'll do. I got rid of cable long ago and just use hulu, and before that veoh and tv network sites. The downside of which is I had to connect my computer to the TV and get up anytime I wanted to watch anything (I R Lazy :) ) So I ended up just using my TV f...

Re: Please Help!

Thanks for the info. I read through it and it seems the delay is dependent on the options you choose (i.e. Profile: LC,HE,V2) so using the same settings you should get the same delay. I became hypersensitive to A/V synch issues when I was trying to mux handbrake video with megui/nero audio, which wa...

Are there any other programs that fix errors like that? It sounds advantageous to fix vob errors before encoding. Anyone have any Ideas?

Re: AppleTV 2 + Dolby Digital + HDMI - Dolby Support= wont p

You know I was reading this thread and was about to suggest that but someone beat me to it. Had a very similar problem. I'm not a tech guy but in my experience apple stuff attempts to play all audio unless you have specifically disabled all streams except the default one and set the alternate group ...

Re: Please Help!

Your Mileage may vary widely. For best results Nero, two-pass (ABR). I can confirm that megui pro-logic II through Nero does produce a subwoofer channel on my setup, havn't tested handbrake. Gotta go.... hope your tests produce results to your likeing.

Re: Please Help!

Good Question, the answer is not about quality at all but rather efficiency. I COULD use faac but a Dolby Surround (Pro Logic II) track is 192kbs. faac hasn't been in development for a long time so to be safe I would set the bitrate to 224kbs. I've gone forum digging and found comparisons that show ...

Re: Please Help!

I figured it out. I wanted to put CC in them cause I'm not always the only audience. When I have friends or family over I want to be able to switch them on or off as neccesary. In handbrake it was so simple there was no reason not to. But now that I'm not using handbrake for video I tried something ...

Re: Please Help!

Thanks for the info. For chapters outside of handbrake I usually just use DVD Decrypter in IFO mode and tell it to make a chapter file which I can mux with megui or mp4muxer. But I have hit a roadblock. I am trying to get the CC in my video. Extracting it failed using Subrip and CC Extractor. I have...

Re: Please Help!

Sooooon I tried that ffmpeg, it did what you said, audio sync was about the same but it seemed to do something wonky with the file - after it had been touched by ffmpeg it wouldn't add to mp4box. Gonna try doing my video in megui. Signing off for tonight - again I am eternally grateful for your help...

You are literally finding stuff faster than I have time to test  but thats ok I'm excited at these possibilities. Just got done using megui to do my video, no sync problems :D . Gonna do a full test with video at my custom settings - chapters - closed captions - multiple audio streams - mp4tra...

Re: Please Help!

Sorry to bother you but I can't seem to get the fix you posted to work. I keep getting "unrecognized option" and "no action specified" in mp4track. mp4track output.m4v --track-id 4 --udtaname "Dolby Surround" Perhaps i'm butchering spaces? maybe if you type [space] for ...
