Re: BluRay Audio Question
Apologies... I got this figured out, the main stand alone tick box was a narrative version for the visually impaired. Mods please delete. Apologies again.

BluRay Audio Question
Just moving on to BluRays after years of backing up DVDs. I have a question about audio. I should throw in a screen cap, but the title is currently being ripped so I can't grab it at the moment... But, when I am selecting audio tracks (if my goal is to only include the AC3 3/2+1) in MakeMKV, and I'm...

Re: *** AppleTV 3 and the New iPad (Presets) ***
For those who are using the customized settings I suggested earlier in the thread, just would like to let you know that I have been using 8 b-frames for a while now and it works really fine. So since 8 b-frames is what x264 --preset veryslow sets, I'll stick with that from now on. I've used these s...

Re: *** AppleTV 3 and the New iPad (Presets) ***
IIRC, The Prestige was full of very dark scenes. It would be interesting to see comparison screenshots of those in 720p and 1080p, particularly with regards to shadowy areas. The higher compression of the store-bought 1080p files does come at a cost, even in cases where the 1080p versions aren't sm...

Re: *** AppleTV 3 and the New iPad (Presets) ***
Also, to quickly chime in on the file size stuff going on in the iTunes store, go look at a movie like The Prestige... The 1080p is actually a smaller file than the 720p version (3.94GB vs. 4.20GB). They've obviously cooked up something pretty good on the compression side that I'd imagine could only...

Re: Encoding for A4 devices (iPad, iPhone 4, tv 2)
- and I have to say I didn't notice much difference at 320 kbps on the AC3, but then again I'm not much of an audiophile 8) Strike that… I must have had things too low when I was testing last night… There's a sizable difference, especially when applying DRC at 1, which I would think necessary if I ...

Re: Encoding for A4 devices (iPad, iPhone 4, tv 2)
Ok... Apologies for the length. I'm looking for my come to Jesus moment here. I've encoded and watched the third chapter from Slumdog Millionaire so many times I'm ready to harm a group of small Indian children. Basically I got this idea in my head that I'm going to digitize/encode/rip/etc my entire...
