Re: Handbrake Causes Mac Mini No Signal
I just bought the new low-end mini as my permanent media hub (and encoding station), I haven't run into any issues that you've described. Install SMC fan control and take a look at your temps when you are encoding. If you need to, manually ramp up the fans during encodes (I do this on my imac 3.06) ...

360 HD-DVD and the Quick Death
I tell you, over the past month(s) or so that things went from "Wow, this thing isn't going to end any time soon" to "Holy F'n Hell, how did Blu-ray 'win' that fast", I was a bit upset that it wasn't drawn out. Albeit, it was for more selfish reasons. Legality aside, it seemed li...

Re: Problem with Star Wars Episode V and AC-3 audio
roundy,
I just noticed that I have the same issue with my encode of Empire Strikes Back. It is definitely a reoccurring problem.

A simple thanks
Too often the hard work goes without recognition and instead forums are flooded with "why doesn't this do that" or "why wasn't this included." I've been using handbrake and mediafork when these guys picked up where the old handbrake left off. I can't say how much I personally app...

Hey guys, I'm having a hard time with disc 2 and 4 of the Simpsons season 10. 1 and 3 worked fine, but 2 and 4 just flat out crash both handbrake and mtr when trying to read the disc. Think its copy issues or could they just be bad discs and I should return to Best Buy and try again? If anyone else ...

Sorry, forgot to mention that I did do that while I was testing audio. 3000kbps main profile, to me, on my setup, produced virtually no difference than 1450kbps baseline. *shrugs* I'm sure people will see it differently, but in the opening scenes of Episode III, they both looked equal and both looke...

Initial Impressions of the Apple TV
I've had my Apple TV for almost 5 hours now and figured that now would be a good time to post an initial impression of the Apple TV and everything that goes a long with it. Packaging : Simple, very Apple like. Only the unit, power cord, remote and documentation. Looks just like how the ipods ship no...

As I have said before, my advise is exactly that. Wait. Once Apple TV hits the shelves and the devs have a few you will find new versions of HB with settings for Apple TV, just like for the iPod. They just have to get them so they can make sure things work as expected. Patience is the thing, and I ...

That was my reaction too at first, but my ship date still shows the 20th.... What I think -might- have happened is they charged everyone that will be in that first batch in order that they will be able to include those figures in the upcoming quarterly call for Wall Street. Otherwise, the quarter wo...

I just started having this issue while encoding the Simpsons dvds. I think it has something to do with powersaving features on my macbook. If I check it occasionally, I'll make it through all 6 or 7 episodes in the queue just fine. If I leave it (like before bed or work) it'll quit right before the ...

Re: Easy Peasy
Do like the Copy and Paste method, only don't export for iPod. Export for h.264 or MPEG4. Then, under the video settings, where you select the codec, select Pass Through. The Audio will need to be re-encoded, but it will come out perfectly. Click OK and save. It'll take far less time than the iPod ...

Alright, so the quicktime export to ipod worked like a charm.... its not perfect at the transition, if I really wanted I could have gone into iMovie and edited in a fade.... But other than that, the simple cut and paste into quicktime worked well enough for me....it just took a long long time. Given...

Well, I joined the movies right in Quicktime Pro by the cut and paste method.... the audio seemed to sync up just fine... there's a little stutter in the transition (I'm pretty sure that can't be avoided since the disc itself transitions from one title to the other to indicate the time for the disc ...

Extended Edition discs
I've recently begun the long and painstaking process of encoding my dvd library into h.264 as prep for the apple tv. If everything works the way it seems like, the idea of having all my movies to just scroll through sounds too good to pass up. Anyways, mediahandforkbrake works wonders for this.... e...
