Help with Windows Batch Script
I am trying to get this Batch script to work but the output fill is far different than if I used the GUI with the same preset. FOR /F "tokens=*" %%G IN ('DIR /B /S *.mkv') DO "C:\Program Files\Handbrake\HandBrakeCLI" -i "%%G" -o "E:\Handbrake Temp\%%~nG.m4v" -...

FYI HTC Flyer can play 720p videos using ATV2 preset
I have just got a HTC Flyer and tried encoding some Blu-ray movies for it using the ATV2 Preset and to my surprise the videos played flawlessly using mvideoplayer from the android market. My other android tablet with the Nvidia Tegra 2 will not play the same videos.

Automatic Cropping
Excuse the lack of Log File I am at work and will post one later if needed. I use MakeMKV to rip my blu-rays to .MKV and then use HB to make them playable on my ATV2 and iPad. The problem I am having is that more than 90% of the blu-rays will not crop automatically. How does HB determine how to crop...

Re: Set A Maximum File Size
I would prefer to use a constant quality setting. I suspect that I will have to use the CLI. I want to use constant quality up to 4 GB but if the file will be larger than 4GB limit the video to 4GB.

Set A Maximum File Size
I have a G-Tablet and the max file size that I can put on it is 4GB (because it is FAT32). I also would like to encode my videos to play on my ATV2. My problem comes in when I encode some videos the end up being over 4GB (most end up about 2GB for the same length movie). Is there a setting in HB 0.9...

Viewsonic G Tablet
I have been encoding BR and DVD videos for my G Tablet using the default apple universal preset. The only changes I have made to the resolution keeping it with in 1024x600 and audio only aac dolby prologic II. I will only be watching these videos on the G Tablet, would I see a huge decrease in quali...

Creating SD/HD Files for iTunes
I have an SD and HD version of a video that I want to import into iTunes. But I want the files to show up as a single file like if I bought it from itunes. I saw on this forum and many others that this can be done in Mac OS but I have yet to find a way to do this in Windows, has anybody found a way ...

Re: Should I upgrade my CPU
I Overclock my 3.0GHz core 2 duo to 3.75GHz and saw a >20% increase in FPS. Stable on the stock heat sink but I am going to get a better one and see if I can take it further. I have read that this CPU can go to 4GHz without adjusting voltage or water cooling.

Re: Encoding DTS to AC3 for atv2 preset
As long as your receiver supports 640 Kbps, use it (it's the default). HandBrake's AC3 encoder isn't really top-notch, and AC3 isn't a particularly efficient codec either. When I pick AC3(ffmpeg) - 6 Channel the default bitrate that shows up is 160, is that per-channel, or should I select 640 in th...

Encoding DTS to AC3 for atv2 preset
I have a bunch of Blu-rays and DVDs that have only DTS audio, and I have read that HB 0.9.5 does not pass-through DTS to the .mv4 container. I want 5.1 surround to when I play back through my Apple tv2. Should I be using AC3(ffmpeg) - 6 Channel Discrete, and if so what bitrate should I use to play b...

Re: Should I upgrade my CPU
Dual 3.0 GHz vs. Quad 2.5 Ghz, same processor family and generation? At least 40%, probably 50% (i.e. encodes will be 1.5x shorter; e.g. 24 minutes -> 16 minutes). BTW the prices you mentioned seem to match Newegg; there's a 2.66 GHz C2Q for $170 (should provide an additional 5% boost). That would ...

Should I upgrade my CPU
I currently have a Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz 6MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor. Would I see a significant decrease in encoding time if I went to a Core 2 Quad at 2.5GHz or would I have to get a faster Core 2 Quad? The 2.5GHz is about $150 and the 3.0GHz Quad is $340.

Re: Max width/hight
I know that I would have to do two different encodes but was wondering if you can use one batch file to encode one preset to create one file then the other preset to create the other file, then move on the the next video to trans-code into two more files. This would be great for my DVD TV series.

Re: Max width/hight
This can be done with the MacGUI. Not sure about the WinGUI. But if you want to make a "batch file" and use the CLI directly, all you have to do is use the --maxWidth and --maxHeight options. How is this done in the MacGUI, maybe it is similar in the WinGUI? Also in the CLI is it possible...

Re: Max width/hight
That is a truly confusing question. Handbrake can resize your video to the dimensions you specify. Those dimensions can either conform or not conform to the original aspect ratio, depending your choice to either check or uncheck the aspect ratio checkbox. There is not an option to enter "max&q...

Max width/hight
Is handbrake able to automatically resize a video to a max width/hight with keeping the correct Aspect Ratio. Example: I want my max width to be 1024 and my max hight to be 600. If I encode a HD 16:9 video the max width would be 1024 and if I encode a HD 4:3 video the max hight would be 600. Can Han...

Re: Encoding for the aTV2 1280x720
The AppleTV 2 preset is INCOMPATIBLE with the first-generation AppleTV. You can use Loose or None; Custom can be made to work too but it's a bit tricky if you don't know what you're doing (and a little buggy). Keep Aspect Ratio should be ticked if you want to preserve your movie's aspect ratio. Goo...

Guys, If I want to encode my Blurays using the aTV Preset but at a resolution of 1280x270, Do I need to set Anamorphic to Custom or None? And do I need to tick or untick keep aspect ratio? Thanks Just use the apple TV2 Preset in HB 0.9.5 with no changes and you will be fine. I have been using it to...

I'll encode a video with 8x8dct today because the g tablet doesn't specify that feature as supported or not; and I'll post my findings. Edit: It seems that using the Universal Preset with 8x8dct turned on does not play HD videos correctly. But my SD videos encoded with the Apple TV2 preset which has...

Re: ipad, atv2, and g tablet
What is the differance between these three profiles? Normal, Apple Universal, and Apple TV2. Normal and Universal both work on the g tablet. Why do these profiles work on the g tablet and not the apple tv2? Would I have any problems using Normal or Universal profiles to use on my apple tv2 and ipad?...
