[Mac] Crash when videos become/are inaccessable
If Handbrake loses access to a network resource where the source file is while encoding, it crashes. Could it be possible to handle this more gracefully? (e.g. terminate encoding, mark as failure, move on?)

Re: Error downconverting from 1080 to 720
Yup that fixed it. Thanks.
Just a suggestion, can you make that error message more friendly? At least for those who read log files.

Error downconverting from 1080 to 720
I've got the MKV from the bluray disc. I setup two encodes - one with the iPhone 4 preset, that came out fine. The other one wasn't playable with the Normal preset with the following changes: 1280x720 resolution (source: 1080p), audio track 1: DTS 5.1 mixdown to 2-ch, audio track 2: 6-channel audio....

Re: Extra blank subtitle track(s)
You are correct Rodeo. Once I renamed the file (put "zzz in front", the extra subtitle tracks disappeared from the menu in VLC.
Sorry!

[invalid] Extra blank subtitle track(s)
Issue: Handbrake creating an extra (blank) subtitle track for each subtitle track I add. I expected the two subtitle tracks, neither marked as the default (the player would default to "none"). Two extra tracks appear in VLC 1.1.5 (Mac). If HB is going to create an empty subtitle track, is ...

Re: chapters disabled after setting same first/last chapter
FYI this occurs on the Mac as well.
I hit this error when ripping a TV show as well (Samuari Champloo). Ch 1-4 was ep 1, 5-9 episode 2, etc. I didn't catch it until after all 7 discs were ripped that only the first episode on each disc had chapter markers. Oops.

Re: AC3 passthrough from preset doesn't work with DTS+AC3
OK, I guess I was expecting the preset to just look for the any audio track in the AC3 format. I'll make sure to always use -n to remove the DTS track. Thanks.

AC3 passthrough from preset doesn't work with DTS+AC3
Mac 10.6.2, HB 0.9.4 If you have a source file (in my case, MKV from BR) that has a DTS and AC3 track, when you select the ATV preset, it wont enable the AC3 passthrough. I'm not sure if the order of the AC3/DTS files matters, but in my case, track 1 is DTS, track 2 is AC3. I got a DTS and AC3 in th...

Re: How-To: Automate DVD & Blu-Ray (Backup, Encoding & Tagging)
Mac.jedi, In one of the last few changes before 0.9.4, the devs made some changes to the presets ( here ). It might just be something you want to be aware of (if you weren't already). The 720p output (for AppleTV) will need the pweight=0 until Apple fixes their decoding bug... Thanks again for the w...

Re: [Invalid] [SVN2937] Performance regression
OK, thanks for the information guys!
One last thing, I tried the iPhone preset and it turns out the performance is faster in 2937 than 2902 (32.3% faster than 0.9.3 vs 28.6%). So I guess its not a complete regression...

Re: [Invalid] [SVN2937] Performance regression
Is there any way to turn it off in HB? I was reading more and in some cases it causes problem with various decoders.. (though Dark Shikari removed the list from his blog)

[Invalid] [SVN2937] Performance regression
I'm pretty sure this is about x264 but I'd thought I'd ask here before I would even consider asking at the Doom9 forums. I don't know what, if any, changes you could make to the settings you send to x264, or patches (would this apply? should I upgrade GCC from 4.2.1?), before I bark up that tree. So...

Re: Handbrake and Snowl Leopard's GCD and CLI
Yes, this has been asked before . The short answer is that its out of Handbrake's developers hands. To grossly oversimply this, handbrake sits on top of x264 , which does all the encoding. If x264 ever implements OpenCL and GCD then Handbrake will inherit those enhancements. x264 did have a google s...

Re: NVIDIA’s CUDA
CUDA recently had their 2.2 release which allows the GPU to access main memory. This should make it easier because previously you had to load the frame into the GPU memory, so you'd end up with only intra-only comparison. Anyways, x264 (via VLC) is participating in the Google Summer of Code , and on...

Re: Advanced Bluray/HDDVD Workflow & Features Discussion
Can you leave in references to mp4v2 for those trying to do this workflow exclusively on a PC? Maybe after the subler reference, just point the user to the mp4v2 package for Windows to replicate that same functionality. That's exactly what I did. That said, the initial post is MY workflow, which is...

Re: Advanced Bluray/HDDVD Workflow & Features Discussion
Two suggestions:
1. STICKY THIS THREAD!
2. Replace steps 2 and 3 with ClownBD, which is a GUI over eac3to and tsMuxer, makes things easier.

Re: Blu-ray support?
Cool, the CVS version compiled (sorta, WinGUI 2166 wont compile, missing x264 panel). The BR support works well in CVS. The only question I have now is how to get the chapters in. I can use eac3to to generate a chapter list, I need to write a parser or something to get it into the winGUI... or if so...

Re: Blu-ray support?
If you're running semicurrent SVN code, then you shouldn't have trouble. If you're running 0.9.3, you might get it to work in part, but not fully. This assumes that you're decrypting it using something else (AnyDVD HD) -- there is no open source Blu-ray decrypter that supports all titles, especiall...
Re: HD Cable
No, the videos on the drive are encrypted (last I had heard, a few years ago). If you want to get video off your cable box, you'll need a TiVo HD and the TiVo Desktop software to transfer the video to your PC, then edit it to remove commercials (I recommend VideoReDo, buts its $50), and then run it ...

Re: Blu-ray support?
Are the CVS versions any more adept at handling BR than 0.9.3? I am curious if updates were made to improve BR handling. I've been struggling all weekend with various tactics to get a BR movie converted down to iPhone res so I can take it with me on my trip this week. I've tried the method posted ab...

[0.9.3] Crashing on MPEG2 file from TiVo HD
Two things: 1. It takes a really long time to scan this title (20 minutes). Granted its a 2.5GB MPEG-2 file from my TiVo, but still... 2. It crashes after scanning, when it starts to encode. The activity log is posted. Obviously because its a huge file I cant post it. If I can find a free MPEG2 edit...

[0.9.3] WinGUI: encode finish, minimize, notification
I did a quick encode, then let it sit for a while (2-3 minutes) after the encode was done. Then I minimized HB and then I got the tray notification. Shouldn't the tray notification not have occurred because the app wasn't minimized when the encode finished?

The question is WPF. Is it feasible for a feature request. I am in the feature request section, right?
