0.10 beta 4 decomb setting issue
I am using 0.10 beta 4 on Mac OS Mavericks (downloaded from here) Following issue with a 'Picture Settings' setting that is set in UI but not used by app: I encode a series from Bluray 1. select Track 1, do my settings and set the decomb setting to default, then add Track 1 to queue 2. select Track ...

Blu-ray support?
Hi,
since the DVD format is becoming dated, how is the planning re supporting the blu-ray format?
A quick forum search came up empty.
I'd love to rip and compress the true HD
Cheers

[Fixed] 0.9.3 GUI glitch with Chapters while using Queue
Hi folks, I run Version 0.9.3 (2008112300) on Mac OS X 10.5.6 Great improvements over the last Version! Thank you guys so much for this awesome product! It makes life so much easier, at least mine. But I found this glitch in the GUI: Setting: Handbrake is running. The queue is processing a list of 3...

Re: encoding simpsons episodes
The closest you can get is with an AppleTV: Encode the single Episodes with Handbrake Get MetaX and set all the necessary info like season, episode and stuff Import to Itunes Watch on AppleTV Only setbacks: couple of bucks for AppleTV, some time for making it nice with MetaX The pros: couch potato a...

On the Mac you can use VisualHub (not free) or iSquint (free). On the commercial side there is also ffmpegX, which I liked better than VisualHub. I had tried both and gotten the feeling that VisualHub tried to dictate my usage and the true gears (like all the fiddly settings of Handbrake) were well...

Re: Optimizing for Mac Pro Quad Core
Are you using the last public build or did you compile a current one from SVN? If it's the former, you should consider following the instructions on the Wiki on how to build your own Handbrake from the SVN. A quick glance (glance! not even search) over at the Support forum brings you this: http://ha...

Re: Hanging at 100%
Sometimes putting the machine to sleep and then waking it back up helps it get over the hanging!jeden96 wrote:Handbrake loads and runs fine, but when it reaches 100% it just hangs.
(at least that's what worked for me)

where can i find these console logs? i have like 500 MB left on my harddrive! You can also use Omni DiskSweeper to find out where big files reside on your HDD. You would need the pay version to delete within the app, but the free version is good enough to point you in the right direction. For me it...

I don't know why it seemed to always happen when using handbrake. Actually it also happened when viewing Quicktime videos too. KernelPanics seem mostly Hardware related. Of course when you have software that stresses the hardware - like HB bringing all cores to 99% for hours - it's more prone to sh...

Re: Implications of cropping
Sorry if I'm not making myself clear, I'm in the midst of grasping the whole concept, so my terminology might not be consistent. here is what the GUI says: Source = 720 x 576 (I understand that, regular PAL) Output = 720 x 544 (720 cropped 2/2=720 ??? There are only 716px left... 576 cropped 16/16=5...

Implications of cropping
It's my priority to get the best available quality from the DVD into my appleTV. I've found that on my setup I cannpt tell the difference on bandwidth beyond 2500 so I stick with that (2100 for TV). So far, so good. BUT, what are the implications of cropping? Example: Let's say I rip movie X. It's a...

Gorgeous new GUI!
Dear Devs,
my Kudos! The new GUI from the SVN is very elegant and so 2007
I don't regret installing the XCode tools to compile nightly builds!
Who knows, maybe I'll even start learning objective c some day...
Keep up the good work!

Disclaimer: I have no experience with the DVDs in question. But, I had this same issue with a short films DVD, Handbrake just saw one of them, also looking at what MTR 2.6 ripped didn't help. I'm pretty sure this is some copy protection. Do you have access to a PC with AnyDVD or the MacTheRipper bet...

If the series is 4:3 then turn off anamorphic, but make sure you copy the x264 options because if you're using the last binary release it will lose them when you change any settings from the preset. One question regarding this, and I'd be thankful if you cold help me on this: If I want to use 2 pas...

TV Shows and anamorphic?
Hi,
I live in PAL land.
I'm about to rip SATC using appleTV preset. And that preset defaults to Anamorphic On. From the preview window it looks like anamorphic is ok to use. But really, are those TV shows on DVD anamorphic??? Or should I switch to 'Keep ascpect ratio'?
TIA,
Konstantin

I use handbrake primarily to convert dvds to my video iPod, so a file conversion tool to make video files downloaded from the internet (example: red versus blue, google video...) so if you guys could add that feature I would very much appreciate it. you do realize, this is a DVD to MPEG-4 converter...

New features need new preferences (soundtrack, language)
Hi, I just compiled HandBrake from the current SVN, great that I can now rip two languages without worrying about quicktime mixing them (I hope). However, when ripping a TV show I have to go back for every epsiode and set the second language. How about a preference for the second language (choices: ...

Re: GUI
8. I've added an input field for 'x264 Encoder Options' under the Encoder drop down on the Video tab. I envision that it will only be visible if the x264 Encoder is chosen. Already in our svn. Its in a new "Advanced" tab that has gui widgets to control most x264 advanced options. Hm, It d...
