Re: Performance Comparison between Windows, Mac and Linux?
You are correct, It appears that I provided the Ubuntu Repository build of Handbrake from local disk. I also have the Ubuntu svn3688 build, and will be providing it's logs shortly. Yes, all three OSes have been set up on the same hardware to evaluate effective performance under each Operating System...

Re: Performance Comparison between Windows, Mac and Linux?
1) I will get the logs and post them here shortly. 2) As I said, I was using the default Apple Universal preset on each Operating System, so the odds of a setting not matching up seem pretty remote. 3) No Antivirus installed. Clean OS load with only drivers, Windows Updates, Handbrake and VLC instal...

Re: Performance Comparison between Windows, Mac and Linux?
I have finished my testing. As you stated, performance between Mac and Linux was identical, sitting at an average FPS of 334 when using the built-in Apple Universal preset in conjunction with the same video files. Tested with Eureka s01e01, Battlestar Galactica s01e01, The Invisible, and The Killer ...

Re: MacPro 2.66 GHz 12-Core Intel Xeon
Using the same hardware as you (6GB DDR3), I am receiving an average of 393 FPS.
First, I rip the source to an ISO via MTR4 and then process via Handbrake.
I ran an additional test from DVD, and was sitting pegged around 120FPS.

Re: MacPro 2.66 GHz 12-Core Intel Xeon
Were you running from a DVD or pre-ripped to your hard disk?
Kind of sounds like you are hitting the DVD Drive's I/O Limit.

Performance Comparison between Windows, Mac and Linux?
Has anyone previously conducted a performance comparison of Handbrake on the same hardware to evaluate which platform offers the highest performance under Handbrake?
If not, over the next few days I will look to conduct one.

Re: Snow Leopard
A year?
What makes you think that that is a real figure?
OpenCL is roughly equivalent to CUDA, and we have seen that CUDA has nice performance benefits when it comes to video encoding.
