Re: ? Handle LPCM 5.1 or DTS 5.1 Better
Oh yeah... I have a separate .m2ts with just the 5.1 DTS. I appreciate the feedback and will go with the LPCM 5.1. Thanks

Re: ? Handle LPCM 5.1 or DTS 5.1 Better
Sorry... I didn't at first consider this as asking for support. I thought maybe there were opinions on the best practice of using LPCM or DTS multi-channel when desiring to play the resulting ffmpeg AC3 5.1 wrapped in M4V for ATV. But I get it. HandBrake 0.9.6 2012022800 OS: Microsoft Windows NT 6.1...

Re: ? Handle LPCM 5.1 or DTS 5.1 Better
I'm wondering what will result in a better transcode using the ATV2 preset (ffmpeg encoder)? A source of LPCM 5.1 or DTS HD 5.1?
What should I look for in the scan log and where do I find it?
Thanks

? Handle LPCM 5.1 or DTS 5.1 Better
I want to put a couple of BD Audios on Apple TV 2. Meaning the video is just nonsense tack info - these are played only to hear the music. I'll create M4Vs using the Handbrake ATV preset and wonder which source file should I expect Handbrake to encode better: the LPCM 5.1 track or the DTS 5.1 track?...

Re: HandBrake 0.9.6 Discussion Thead
In the previous release the Apple TV 2 preset would always default 5.1 audio to use AC3 passthru. Now instead of AC3 Passthru it shows AC3 (ffmpeg)? Curious as to why the change? Is this just because my source has a DTS 5.1 and maybe it will show AC3 Passthru when it's a an AC3 5.1 source? Yes. Wit...

Re: HandBrake 0.9.6 Discussion Thead
You have to have the AAC track, then the original sound track. SC I'm sorry, I don't understand. With a DTS source and the Apple TV 2 preset, the 2nd audio track defaults to ac3 (ffmpeg). Should that be changed to DTS Passthru or will Apple TV not handle DTS passthru? Is the conversion from DTS 5.1...

Re: HandBrake 0.9.6 Discussion Thead
I realize this question will show how little understand the handling within Handbrake. Here it goes... In the previous release the Apple TV 2 preset would always default 5.1 audio to use AC3 passthru. Now instead of AC3 Passthru it shows AC3 (ffmpeg)? Curious as to why the change? Is this just becau...

Re: Bad Dimensions for U2 BD Rip to Apple TV 2 Setting
Admittedly I don't know much about what controls the output dimensions. I tried all the Anamorphic settings with no fix. I even calculated the ratio to force the dimensions to 1280x720. That looks better as it no longer seems to be 1:33, but it's still not right. The text is still cut of on the left...

Re: Bad Dimensions for U2 BD Rip to Apple TV 2 Setting
It's encoding. I described above that it's simply that the output video displays in the wrong aspect and the titles are cut off on the left side of the screen. The video and audio are crystal clear and in synch. I suspect the original file has something coded wrong as it relates to the aspect ratio....

Bad Dimensions for U2 BD Rip to Apple TV 2 Setting
After encoding hundreds of my Blu-Ray M2TS rips, I encountered an issue with one. I see nothing special about this title, but apparently it's got something in the M2TS file that confuses Handbrake. The problem is with the dimensions of the output. It's not as widescreen as it should be. Perhaps more...

Re: HOWTO:Blu-ray "Forced" Subtitles-Avatar, District 9, etc
As I continue to review my steps; maybe I shouldn't expect to see the forced subs when testing the .mkv. Instead I should let handbrake encode my M4V with the subs and test that resultant file? I'm a little confused in Handbrake... Before clicking Add (to get the subtitle details to show), do I choo...

Re: HOWTO:Blu-ray "Forced" Subtitles-Avatar, District 9, etc
I can't figure out what I did wrong. And I'm not a complete novice. I extracted the proper .sup and converted it to get the .idx and .sub files. Then I merged everything to get the .mkv. When I test the .mkv I don't see the subs. When I open the mkv in handbrake, under subs it shows an English(VobSu...

Re: HOWTO:Blu-ray "Forced" Subtitles-Avatar, District 9, etc
Thanks for the How-To, worked brilliantly. One side note on BDSup2Sub, in the instance of Avatar, as shown in the screencap above, the subtitle colors should be yellow but turned out cyan. I found to resolve this go to settings in BDSup2Sub and select Swap Cr/Cb, then save/export as normal. This wi...
