Re: Upgrading from Version 1.0.7 to 1.2.2 disables intel quick sync
My reply's a bit late, but this may help. I recently reinstalled Windows 10 on my i7 2600K system (Sandy Bridge, 2nd gen) HD3000 graphics system. Windows installs a compatibility graphics driver, because I don't think it's officially supported by Intel anymore for Windows 10. After the reinstall, Ha...

Re: Handbreak uses 90% of CPU
When I want to use my computer for other things while also running Handbrake (and not in a big hurry for it to finish quickly), I add "threads=4" under Video -> Extra Options. On my system, this results in Handbrake using about 50% of the CPU, so other applications running are still relati...

Re: Audio settings get reset with each new file
No, it's just whatever the default is before changing any settings. Though I just tried to see if adjusting the audio defaults would make any difference, and it doesn't seem to.

Audio settings get reset with each new file
Going from HandBrake-svn6027_i686-Win_GUI to HandBrake-svn6103_i686-Win_GUI I notice whenever I load a new file, the audio settings get reset back to the default, instead of what they were set to before. With all previous versions, when a new file is loaded, the audio settings that were set previous...

Re: Handbrake starting with a blank screen?
One thing that is different between my two systems, is that on my main system (where it works) I've got both Client & Full versions of .NET 4.0, and on the laptop (where it doesn't work) it just has the Client version of .NET 4.0. Not sure if that makes any difference. Another thing -- this othe...

Re: Handbrake starting with a blank screen?
I'm also having this problem on one of my systems. On my main system, it's fine, but on my laptop I get a blank screen. Both are Windows 7 64 bit, with the latest nightly. HandBrake-svn5823_i686-Win_GUI.exe I deleted the preferences as outlined here: https://trac.handbrake.fr/wiki/FileLocations But ...

Re: Starting Queue / An Unknown Error has occured.
I installed 5728 (HandBrake-svn5728_i686-Win_GUI.exe) and it's working again. Thanks.

Starting Queue / An Unknown Error has occured.
I first noticed this with 5714 (HandBrake-svn5714_i686-Win_GUI.exe) and then downloaded the latest version, 5722 (HandBrake-svn5722_i686-Win_GUI.exe) and confirmed the error is still happening. I'm using Windows 7 64 bit. Before this I ran 5675 (HandBrake-svn5675_i686-Win_GUI.exe) and didn't get thi...

Re: HandBrake svn3972: Unable to find the preview file
Thanks for the info. I probably should have put this in the Bugs forum. Anyway, I reverted to 0.9.5 for now so I could continue encoding. When I have problems with the audio static bug that's in 0.9.5 I just keep re-encoding until I get a good encode. Sometimes I queue up 2 encodes of the same movie...

HandBrake svn3972: Unable to find the preview file
I had been using 0.9.5 for awhile now, and it had been working well except for an audio static problem that would sometimes happen at the beginning of the encode. I installed the latest nightly build (svn3972 2011050301) on my Windows 7 system to see if it would fix the problem, since there was a re...

Re: Static Audio at beggining of video when 'Strict' Anamorp
Yeah, I've had trouble with this, too. Sometimes during preview encodes, I don't get any audio at all, too. Usually it doesn't happen very often, but lately it seems to have gotten worse for me, with about half of my encodes suffering with the problem and needing to be re-encoded (sometimes several ...

Re: Duration different after remuxing HandBrake encodes
I opened the vobsub file with SubtitleCreator and checked the "show" and "hide" times, and found one with an incorrect "hide" time past the end of the movie. I also found what looked like many duplicate subtitles with 00:00:00 "hide" times that I deleted. I ex...

Re: Duration different after remuxing HandBrake encodes
Thanks for checking. The subtitles play in sync in both the original and remuxed versions, and looking at the end of the vobsub idx, it looks ok (the timestamps aren't out of range): timestamp: 01:26:48:203, filepos: 0003c4800 timestamp: 01:26:55:143, filepos: 0003c5000 If I extract the vobsub using...

Re: Duration different after remuxing HandBrake encodes
I think it has something to do with the vobsub subtitle track. If I leave it out when I remux, the duration is correct. I'm not sure why, though.

Duration different after remuxing HandBrake encodes
I've tried remuxing some of my HandBrake 0.9.5 encodes using mkvmerge 4.5.0. For one of my encodes, the duration of the remuxed version is 5 minutes longer than the original (1:37:46 remuxed vs. 1:32:24 original). Both versions play ok with VLC 1.1.7 with no noticeable sync problems, except for the ...

Re: Tearing and distorted images
I saw your post to another topic here on remuxing. Sounds like the same thing. There's audio issues around the point where it tears and distorts, too. https://forum.handbrake.fr/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=18726#p87713 The issue is just with interleaving. x264 is a high-latency encoder (using default s...

Re: Burst of audio static for lame mp3 audio tracks
Thanks. I've noticed the same thing with mp3 audio during previews occasionally, too (the burst of static). Or sometimes there's no audio at all. It's usually ok during the full encode, though (except this time).

Re: Tearing and distorted images
If I remux the HandBrake output with mkvmerge, the remuxed version does not have the tearing and distortion problem.
Any idea what would cause that with the HandBrake version?

Tearing and distorted images
Sometimes I'm noticing tearing and distorted images, usually during the credits of a movie. I'm using Handbrake 0.9.5 with Windows Vista to encode to High Profile mkv files (RF20), and playing them back with VLC 1.1.7. The same scenes from the ripped DVD files (ripped using AnyDVD) play fine on VLC ...

Burst of audio static for lame mp3 audio tracks
I noticed a problem with one of my encodes of a DVD, where the first audio track is a mixdown from 5.1 AC3 to 256kbps lame mp3 DPLII. At the very beginning of the movie, there's a quick burst of loud audio static/white noise on the mp3 track that was mixed down. There's also an AC3 passthrough track...

Re: Best Laptop CPU for Handbrake Encoding
For what it's worth, I use a laptop as my main machine with an external monitor and keyboard, mostly for power efficiency reasons. And I use it for HandBrake encoding and let it encode all night, and sometimes part of the day, too. So far I haven't had any problems. I keep it propped up so it can ge...

Re: 5.1 AC3 or 2.0 AC3 audio track for 2.0 AAC Mixdown
After more testing with a concert DVD, I changed my mind and decided to use the original AC3 2.0 track in passthrough mode as track #1 when it's available. I also keep the original AC3 5.1 track as track #2 when it's available. After going through about 50 DVDs I find a lot of the older ones include...

Re: Best Practices for mkv audio tracks
I hooked up my computer's audio output to a stereo receiver and good quality speakers and compared faac AAC to lame MP3 again. This particular DVD also includes PCM stereo audio, so I also tried encoding to AAC and MP3 using the PCM audio as the source, and then compared the result to the original P...

Re: Best Practices for mkv audio tracks
I encoded a test clip from the Rush R30 dvd. Track 1 AAC faac DPLII 160kbps Track 2 AC3 5.1 passthrough Track 3 AC3 ffmpeg DPLII 192kbps Track 4 MP3 lame DPLII 192kbps I played it back on my stereo computer speakers using VLC 1.1.5 (windows). The AC3 5.1 passthrough track (#2) was extremely low in v...
