Re: Feedback on HandBrake
First, there appears to be no way to add a group of files to be converted at once, and files must be manually added one at a time, then added to the queue. Could this perhaps be improved in the future? The ability to select multiple files would be a big boon. Search the forums. This has been discus...

Re: strange issue with *all* movies I encode
If you're having this problem with EyeTV recordings, which I've also experienced, it's usually due to a problem with the source. I've had this happen when the EyeTV drops an excessive number of frames for some reason.

Re: I do not want my MKVs to have a variable frame rate
Interesting that HB cannot decipher whether the source video is VFR or CFR. This is not a matter of HB deciphering anything. This is a matter of the fact that many sources are VFR, and you just don't realize it, because most tools are going to report the "nominal" framerate, as Rodeo ment...

Impatient much? 1. I am not able to download HandBrake on my PC at home. Here's the thread on that, https://forum.handbrake.fr/viewtopic.ph ... bbcd744086 so far no help there. Sounds like a problem with your PC, if it works everywhere else. All three ended up with terribly pixelized pictures and au...

Re: Embeded subtitles being cropped.
If the subtitles are hardcoded into the source video, you're not going to be able to crop the video without dropping portions of those subtitles that extended into the black bars.

Re: Bluray to Apple TV G2, 24p? Help!
Not sure why you think this wouldn't be supported. From the Apple specs for the ATV2: H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats You might want to follow the suggestion at...

Re: ? How to Cut/Trim m4v-mp4 without re-encoding ?
I use MPEG StreamClip without a problem on Mac, but haven't tried it on Windows. Although, it's not frame-accurate, so I tend not to use it. On Windows, I use VideoRedo, but it doesn't handle Variable Framerate, so I trim source videos before feeding into Handbrake instead of triming the output from...

Re: Errors in Encodes from MakeMKV/Bluray
I've been running into issues with files created with MakeMKV as well, although I haven't done much troubleshooting on it. Using the disc backup to a file/folder structure and then using handbrake on that folder works perfectly. It seems like MakeMKV is doing something potentially wacky in muxing th...

You could just reencode the existing files in order to avoid ripping things again, but you'll lose quality.

Is this even valid? I thought the ATV2 only supported up to 1280x720.[08:02:14] + storage dimensions: 1876 * 1080 -> 1280 * 736, crop 0/0/0/0, mod 16

Re: Apple TV2 - Subtitles...
If you're using soft subtitles, I believe you need to press and hold the middle button on the ATV remote to select which subtitles to display, and you need to make sure that you've selected a language for the ATV.

Let your playback software scale. Why waste the storage for something that can be done perfectly well on playback.

Re: svn3097 and later: "gray" frames (ffmpeg input)
I seem to have suddenly run across this problem with 1 particular video using both the latest nightly as well as 0.9.5. The source file plays fine in VLC. Just the first few frames of the encoded file seem to be partially screwed. Basically, the first 5 seconds of the video are hosed until a scene c...

And there are other tools that provide this ability in a much more flexible capacity than anything that Handbrake would/should provide as a video encoding tool.

You're disappointed by 600% CPU utilization on a 4 core machine?
Those numbers seem reasonable to me on a laptop.

Sounds like you have a hardware problem with your iPad, or you've uncovered a player bug. What profile are you using to encode the video you're seeing problems with? An activity log would be helpful, as pointed out at the top of the page.

Does the DVD have multiple tracks on it? The only time I've seen something similar is when there is a track that contains other files/executables that results in that track becoming visible in Finder, and the video track has to be manually mounted. But I've only seen that once or twice out of well o...

Re: Many questions
1) Is there a way to stop the crop values from auto-populating when you drag a VIDEO_TS file over to handbrake? This would be a nice feature if I were going to play these files on a PC, but I play them on a set-top box and would rather not crop the image in case it introduces an aspect ratio issue....
