Are you trying to make one movie file for each DVD chapter?

It might help if you mentioned what exactly your stand-alone XVID compatible player was - for example the manufacturer and model number?

Re: DVD Chapter Hosted Service
Check out recent versions of MetaX, which will look up chapter names from a new service called "Tag Chimp": http://www.tagchimp.com/docs/metax/search-and-tag/ http://www.kerstetter.net/page53/page54/page54.html It looks when TagChimp doesn't have the chapter names, you can type them in and...

Toshiba's Cell-based HD GPU - SpursEngine SE1000
The Cell CPU used in the PS3 has a PowerPC RISC core (on a par with a G4), plus eight Synergistic Processing Element (SPE) cores for vector data. Toshiba are developing a graphics card for the PC with four of these SPE cores. Apparently they are pushing this for encoding and decoding MPEG 2 and H.26...

ActivityLog wiki page - non MacGUI help
Often people get told to read http://trac.handbrake.fr/wiki/ActivityLog to work out how to post their activity log for diagnosis. Could this page have an extra couple of sections for the Windows GUI and command line handbrake? e.g. For the Windows GUI section: Just like the MacGUI, on Windows there ...

Maybe you are missing a video codec on the Windows machine - how did you encode this file?

And perhaps remove the apostrophe (DVDs rather than DVD's), ... The issue is not as clear-cut as Wikipedia would make it out to be. Yeah - I didn't want to get bogged down on the whole debate, so left it as "perhaps" ;) As to the code, if I've read this right, for Mac and Windows HB will ...

And put "DVD" in capitals. And perhaps remove the apostrophe (DVDs rather than DVD's), see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apostrophe ... in_plurals for example.

Re: Preparation for snapshot builds
Using yyyymmdd is nice and clear, while dd/mm/yyyy and mm/dd/yyyy as in your suggestion are very ambiguous.eddyg wrote:Like that, but nicer - I don't know why dates have to be displayed in that manner, and there is nothing wrong with whitespace.

Re: Turn Titles into Chapters
In your case, I guess you want to use ALL the DVDs titles? If not, then the you'd also need a way of specifying which ones (and possibly also in which order) which is MUCH more complicated.

Presets which specify the HB version
Every so often, there are thread where people have had problem with 0.9.2 due to trying to use old presets from 0.9.1 Would it be possible to include the HB version within each preset, so that if I tried to use say HB 0.9.4 with a 0.9.3 preset, this could be flagged as an error - and if using the GU...

Re: Ripped movies not compatible with iPhone/iPod
I cannot make any ripped movie work with the iPod, but they will work with the Sansa and the new Sonys (which are AWESOME, by the way!) The only way I get the movies to work is changing the codecs to MPEG-4 AAC settings, which doesn't appear in any of the settings that I'm aware of. Most annoying. ...

You might also try out some of the other tools for copying a DVD to the hard drive "as is", and then if it works, run HB in that.

Does anyone know how common CC is on R1 DVDs (both movies and TV shows)? How about non-R1, where I would guess its going to be very rare?

Baiscally I set up a small file that identifies the disc by the upc code (no duplicates). For those discs that are part of a box set I also have a set up for them. Re: Anamorphic ignored by Apple TV only
Didn't apple change something in the Apple TV "take 2" software to do with how they handle anamorphic? That might explain your problem - if HB 0.9.2 is targetting only what the revised Apple TV supports.

Re: DVD Chapter Hosted Service
It might work - Gracenote started out as the free cddb service http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CDDB but I guess Rodney has a good point about the lawyers. If you do try this anyway, do try and come up with a better solution to identifying the discs - the CDDB ID had a lot of collisions (duplicate IDs f...
