Re: Add, then rip ALL tracks from a disk

Check in your preferences for the file auto-naming, I suspect its overwriting the files. Maybe set auto-naming to something like [source] [title] [chapters].???

Re: Speed Test Results from Various Mac Computers

Rich364, first off thanks for sharing this info, its quite useful.

Secondly,
1. Could you please also post Computer 3 & 4's encode log?
2. Could you edit your original post to include the Apple model (e.g. A1234) and order (e.g. MC123/XA) numbers for exact hardware specs?

Cheers,

Sharing my preset

Hi, Sorry if this is the wrong place, I wanted to share my preset in-case its useful for anyone. Most of the source content I've tested is DVD (720p) and Bluray (1080p) content, playback testing is mainly on Apple devices. I like to keep everything as close to original quality as possible. If you ha...

The "hard coded" name is called Metadata. Get an app like Subler or MetaZ to edit it

Re: HandBrake 0.10.0 Beta - Discussion Thread

Hi Rodeo, Have you tested that such a setup (AAC, AC3, AC3) even works? If you do that, the second audio will not be usable on any of Apple's mobile devices, too (it might or might not work on the AppleTV, and only if it's correctly hooked up to a compatible receiver). Yip, I've been testing that se...

Re: HandBrake 0.10.0 Beta - Discussion Thread

Just tried out 0.10.4 beta for Mac, the new features look great especially the automatic track selection. One question. From what I understand when encoding for Apple devices you should try to make the first audio track an AAC encode, the secondary audio tracks can be whatever (AC3, DTS etc). If tha...

Re: Mitigating the issue of burning in a subtitle (encoding)

@s55 - Yeah its Apache v2.0 so its only compatible with GNU GPL v3. Is there a way to have the "Foreign Audio Search" subtitle track extracted twice? i.e. on two separate tracks, each with different settings. Currently the GUI only allows me to select "Foreign Audio Search" on the first subtitle tra...

Re: Mitigating the issue of burning in a subtitle (encoding)

Ok looking into this further it seems the only way I can achieve this goal (and be able to play back subtitles on most/all devices) is to 1) Get the VobSub subtitle track I want to embed (from an existing MP4 or a DVD) 2) Use the timing queues from the extracted VobSub track to create a tx3g track (...

Re: Mitigating the issue of burning in a subtitle (encoding)

@hanumang - I have tried the Forced Subtitle option in Subler (version 0.17) without luck. To test it I took an ISO file of a movie and encoded it using HB (pass thru all audio tracks and all subtitle tracks). On the "Foreign Audio Search" subtitle track I ticked "Forced Only" and "Default" and un-t...

@hanumang Since you're posting this in the Mac forum, I'm hoping your actually using Mac OS X. If that is correct... Actually I am all over the show, most of my computers are Mac OS X but I also have a little Unix, some NetWare, a few Linux and a couple of Windows. All depends what is best for the j...

Re: Mitigating the issue of burning in a subtitle (encoding)

The problem with forced subs is that the studios don't follow any sort of standard in implementing them. Yeah I have read the various write ups on what HB has to do to work around the industries failings. If you don't want them burned in then don't select the burn in option. The problem is then I f...

Re: Mitigating the issue of burning in a subtitle (encoding)

Hi tdtran1025, Thanks but I don't see how your response really applies to my question i.e. "The issue I have is burning in the "Foreign Audio Search" subtitle track, sure I want it to appear by default but I don't want it burnt into the video track i.e. unable to remove/disable. Does anyone have any...

Generate fingerprint at time of encode

Hi, My request is to generate a fingerprint (GUID) at the time of encode. As we encode DVD media to a MPEG/MKV container we lose some useful information like what DVD release was the source media (Australian, European or North American release? Special edition, Collectors edition or Standard release...

Re: Is there a Product GUID for DVD Movies?

That looks perfect thanks! Seems a perfect feature to add into HB, I may do a enhancement request to see if there is interest. It would seem to me (a complete noob) it would be easy for HB to calculate the fingerprint as it reads the source media and write the fingerprint(s) as an attribute to the d...

Is there a Product GUID for DVD Movies?

Is it a special edition, collectors edition or stock standard release etc... I find bar codes and UPC can no...

Re: Additional Audio/Subtitle track information

Thanks for the feedback Rodeo.

Auto-naming would be good but (for me at least) the ideal would be to also send that information through as an additional attribute on the track e.g.
Track 3
- Type: AC3
- Language: English
- Comment: Directors Commentary

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks

Re: Additional Audio/Subtitle track information

Hi Rodeo, Agreed its exposed in the UI (which is cool), the feature request is to write that info as a track attribute/atom/other in the destination media. The same way as you read the tracks language from the source media and write it to the destination media track for audio/subtitles. Hopefully th...

Mitigating the issue of burning in a subtitle (encoding)

Hi All, My Commentary I enjoy good quality AV and I'm a little OCD at times.... Some friends call me ISO Mike, others call me names probably not suitable to write here. I'm no audiophile / AV specialist but after literally years (bouts of dedication with big gaps) of testing encodes, trawling the we...

Re: Additional Audio/Subtitle track information

Another vote here for this feature. I pass thru all the subtitles on my movies because they take up so little space. Its great that Handbrake passes thru the language tag but its really hard to recognise the track post encoding e.g. which are closed captions, directors commentary, for hearing impair...

Possible enhancements?

Hi, In addition to my feature suggestion for Chapter preview images (https://forum.handbrake.fr/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=21747) 1) The ability to label tracks. Currently I label the audio and subtitle tracks using Subler so that they represent their content e.g. "Feature, 5.1 AC-3", "Feature, 2.0 AC-3",...

Re: Chapter preview images

Sorry I wanted to add one thing to this feature idea. In addition to generating chapter preview images it would be great to display the time marker on the chapter page e.g. Chapter | Time | Title | Image 1 | 01:04.00 | Chapter 1 | <image> 2 | 02:16.00 | Chapter 2 | <image> Thanks again, MC

Chapter preview images

Hi, First off love the Handbrake, nice work My feature request is to add a option to the chapters tab to create preview images for each chapter and save them in a JPEG stream (I'm big on my Apple gear which is why I'm keen on the idea). Before someone says it, I know Subler can do this for me, but (...
