Re: HOWTO:Blu-ray "Forced" Subtitles-Avatar, District 9, etc
Nice, all my MAKEMKV files playback using directvobsub just fine. Pity there like 20-25gig files though. :( I guess I can use MKVMerge to extract the PGS Stream, BD2sub to convert to IDX, then rumux again with MKVMERGE before applying handbrake? Just wondering if i have my head around that right? :l...

Re: HOWTO:Blu-ray "Forced" Subtitles-Avatar, District 9, etc
Hey now this (and especially the commentary) is a REALLY interesting read. http://www.mediasmartserver.net/2010/06/17/mkvmania-displaying-pgs-subtitles-in-mkvs/ Seems PGS support may be becoming more commonplace eventually perhaps? It looks to me now as a FFDShow/Haali/MCE user all I need to do is c...

Re: HOWTO:Blu-ray "Forced" Subtitles-Avatar, District 9, etc
Thanks, so I guess MakeMKV users still follow the above guide, but just use BDClown to take out the Forced PGS file, then load that into BD2sub and carry on from there then?

Re: Encoder settings for optimal quality?
Ok, I'll ask the hilariously obvious question then shall I? How do you change RF?
After reading many discussions on it, I would like to change mine from 20 to 22 for bluray rips. I now have a excellent understanding of what it does, and no clue where to actually change it.

Re: HOWTO:Blu-ray "Forced" Subtitles-Avatar, District 9, etc
I'm wholly unsure, but I "think" that HB will not recognise the the bluray PGS format and you will still need to use this guide to get your forced subs? Be good if someone cleverer than I could confirm this, as I too use MakeMKV and have often wondered if the PGS Forced subs it creates wer...

Re: A lil "sound" advice please
Steady guys, this thread is NOT a support request, or I would have posted it in the windows forum WITH a logfile, and of course will do so if I can't crack getting 300 to encode the audio properly. This is just a noob asking questions, if your not inclined to answer feel free to pass right on by, bu...

Re: A lil "sound" advice please
Back on topic of sound I just ripped 300 which has a TrueHD Soundtrack. The resulting file (from makemkv) works perfectly and gives me a TrueHD Soundtrack in FFDShow. After passing thru Handbrake set to AC3 Passthrough all I get is Dolby Pro Logic II, any ideas why that happened???

Re: A lil "sound" advice please
Aha, now thats exactly what I had imagined would happen, after reading all about MP4. I can report that on my Win7 64bit version it does not however become greyed out, glad to know its not required for MKV now so thanks.

Re: A lil "sound" advice please
Thanks, I just keep changing it to MKV, although I'm not sure if I need to enable Large Filesize support or not, most posts I read that seems to be a MP4 requirement??? And thanks for the clarification on DTS/AC3, good to see I guessed correctly. I will create a new topic for the TMT3 issue once I h...

Re: A lil "sound" advice please
Excellent, thanks for that. Shoot Em Up turned out exactly as you said it would, with DTS as the primary track and a secondary "backup" track. This works fine for my 64bit MCE setup, as it just plays the first track using FFDShow. Interestingly I just hit another snag which is prob worthy ...

A lil "sound" advice please
Hi all let me just say that this GUI is brilliant for numpty beginners like me, so thanks for any/all advice on actually using it! :D I am in the process of ripping my Blu-Ray (and DVD) Collection to MKV for storage on my HTPC. I use MakeMKV to create the movies, always only saving one soundtrack (u...
